Fred and John play a round of golf twice a week on the local course since 1962 . No exception , hail or storm : Tuesday and Thursday , tee off at 7 am .
This last thursday on the 4th , par 5 , right hand dog leg along the local cemetery , John is about to swing when a funeral cortege goes past . John stops , turns around , takes off his cap and bows . Patiently waits for it to go past , and only then drives the ball 300 yards down the fairway .
Fred taken aback by the gesture he has never observed upon friend over the decades they have played . Says : "John ...? I must say that did impress me . That was very considerate of you . Never seen you do that before ."
John : " Well , I was married to that woman for over 50 years "
