A question for all 4130 Daytona owners
Since I spend so much of my time taking these apart and I see what wears etc.. I wondered how many of you run the chronograph constantly as a centre seconds?
Do those who do find it affects the timekeeping? |

According to one of our senior experts, Padi.....it's okay to keep the Chrono function running. Personally, I hate looking at a watch face with a stationary second hand. Drives me nuts!! ![]() What is your opinion on this? Thanks - JJ

The chronograph mechanism is not designed to run constantly.
If it is, certain components in the chronograph mechanism can wear much more quickly than they would normally. This can affect the timekeeping and the power reserve adversly. The main reason Daytonas are returned under warranty is because of this wear and it`s effects. The friction spring on the centre seconds chronograph wheel wears and affect the amplitude of the balance wheel and consequently the timekeeping and power reserve. ![]() |

![]() How about if a user keeps the Chrono running during the day but turns it off at night? Would that help? JJ

To be honest without getting figures from Geneva I don`t know what percentage of the total Daytona`s sold it affects. Other chronographs I have worked on dont use the same friction spring design so I have no idea wheather they would be affected in the same way. |

I`m curious to know the answer too, it`s a question I have wanted to ask clients but I don`t deal with the clients just their watches.
