Rolex Price increase must be a Hoax

I think this price increase rumor is a hoax! It's to soon to raise prices after the approx. 30% increase since Feb 2004. In my opinion AD's are carrying inventories now they are having trouble selling! A Rolex may be a Rolex, but if people don't have the money, they will sit in the show cases.

in the near future is it possible for Rolex to make a decrease in prices concerning about the decrease in sales, instead of an increase???

That is more likely! Unless insanity has infiltrated the upper ranks of Rolex!

yes this is more likely but ROLEX will be afraid to decrease prices not to loose the brand's imagine all over the world, that is what makes me worried that prices will not go down easily.

They should have thought about that before they raised prices 30% in the last 3 years.

Exactly, that is what I'm thinking and I dont understand why they want %30 more for the same watch just without holes on the case. So it means that Rolex proved success and has a limited population of customers that buy and doesnt need more customers, but in the long term this %30 increase will effect Rolex negatively, demand for 2nd hand Rolexes will increase and AD stores will not be able to sell and profit as they did before. I really dont understand what is Rolex doing my dream Rolex was about 6000 before when I started to dream and now it s about 7800.

I asked my AD about their SD in the case. The manager who I've dealt with before said they have 3 others in the back one with Y(02) and 2 with F's(03) serial letters. I asked if he could make a deal with the Y being the oldest and sitting the longest, he said "no" wish he could.
Also, I mentioned I knew of someone who paid $4.1K for a new one in NZ and I'd be interested in one at that price + tax.
He said he'd be interested in one too at that price.

JJ,
see what you've started around here.

The problem is that most Rolex AD, also carry diamonds, gold, and other items that have a 300% or better markup. They do have some leverage in holding off giving a discount.

What about the weakness of the US dollar? Rolex is Swiss and the Swiss franc is stronger than three years ago (against the US dollar).

On the other hand, prices here in Switezrland have also increased!

Highly unlikely. At most, in the case of a recession, Rolex would only freeze prices where they are.

Of course, the AD can choose to give a better discount had he done so otherwise when the economy was at it's peak.

Aykun. Do you have something like a "layaway" plan in Turkey? We have it here at most Rolex stores. Especially the chain stores in shopping malls. Basically you go in for your Blue Sub, make your best deal, put some money down on it, lock in the price, with the promise that you will pay the remainder of the money at an agreed upon future day. Usually you can put something on layaway for up to a year.

That way you can make your best deal, lock in the price while continuing to save towards the watch.
