Long live the mechanical watch.
I used to race until a couple of years ago and you are spot on. Everybody from the drivers to owners to mechanics and fans wore nice watches. I think if you have an affinity for mechanical things, mechanical watches just fit in.

This makes perfect sense to me because I also love cars! Unfortunately I can't afford a Lamborghini, but I can afford a Rolex.

I believe in doing and buying items which makes me happy. And wearing a Rolex has always been one of my dreams. Some will say I'm crazy but it's hard to put a price on satisfaction and happiness!!!

Leo, well said. As it says in my signature below, few things in life give man as great a pleasure as wearing a Rolex!

Crazy? Not at all. People have all sorts of interests and I think buying expensive watches is no more or less harmful than any other luxury purchase.

I know women who spend upwards of $10k for a birkin bag from Hermes. Yes, one bag. And I don't see anything bad about it if it's what they choose to splurge on.

I have a casio g shock that I love. I stare at my deepsea all the time but some how still don't know what time it is! Too much time spent admiring than checking the time!
