Rolex Inscription on Dial Wall

Is there a price point or some other metric used to determine when Rolex will inscribe their name on the inside face wall? I notice it's on the GMT anniversary but not some other pricier models like the gold YMs.

Nobody seems to mention this inscription on these or other forums. Are they popular?

I assume they are doing that on all watches now, and the reason you do not see it on all watches in the dealer's case is that some of the watches are from older stock. I might be wrong, but I have seen it on a SS datejust, which is one of the less expensive models, but not on an all gold YM, which is more expensive by multiples.

I figured the SS datejust was newer stock and that YM might have been in the case for a while.

I personally hated the new feature, especially with the serial showing. Pretty tacky IMO.

The repeat Rolex inscription on the CHAPTER ring can only be seen on the new GMT as well as the new style TOGs and DJs.

In actual fact, the inscription is very subtle and cannot be noticed that easily until you go looking for it. I quite like it.

Hi Renato,

You could be right....haven't seen a new Daytona in a very long time.

I thought it was on the WG Daytona (the model with black face and red hands which is stunning)

Cannot see any need for Rolex Rolex around chapter ring, and IMHO its quite tacky, but like the serial number where you can check it very easy

I initially agreed with you but while I was deciding if I wanted to get my TT GMTII Anniversary I realized that I had looked at the watch twice at the ADs and forgot to check to see if the “rolexrolexro...” was there. It is so subtle, in my opinion, that if you don’t know it is there you are unlikely to notice. It is certainly hard to see when the watch is on someone else’s wrist.

These close-up pictures on this website are a lot better than my eyesight and are lighted so they reflect the inscription.

I've yet to decide whether I like the "triple R", I think it looks better on some models than others, although if I owned a model that had it I bet I'd think it were cool,

The inscription on the reflector ring is part of their continuing battle against fakes watches.
Both the Rolex and the visible serial number are there to make copying it more difficult and identifing each watch easier since it`s no longer necessary to remove the bracelet to see the case number.
I have been told it is something that will eventually be seen on all Rolex models.

might anyone have a closeup of how the serial number looks? It sounds pretty cool but its one of those things you would have to see to appreciate

Dont like the repeat Rolex inscription on the reflector ring.I dont think the Folex scum will have a problem in copying it.I do like the idea of a visible serial nr.It can be very small, where loupes are required to see it.This can be on the reflector dial.

I did not like the chapter ring when it first came out. Do not mind in now though. A lot had to do with photos I saw which made the writing really stand out. But in real life I hardly notice it.

I dislike the feature... A watch only needs to say Rolex once. Kind of reminds me of THIS
