I was at a local cellular store getting some business taken care
of when I spotted a gentleman wearing an all gold Rolex
Sub-date with blue dial..

by the way are there any rolex people in the WV area?!

I always enjoy seeing a Rolex on somebody's wrist. I don't ask them about it, but discretely observe the watch and the person wearing it. The watch is always a reflection of the personality type. Larry.

The people out to prove something have their sleeve up and wave the watch around. That's fun, and makes good viewing. But the real watch people keep their sleeve down to protect the watch, don't seem to care too much about other's seeing it. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE WEARING... Larry.

Unless it is summer, and the heat is sweltering at around 100 deg F, short sleeves might be in order.

It's too hot where I live to keep it covered up. My sleeves are either rolled up, or I'm wearing short sleeves. I'm not purposely "flashing" my watch, I'm just trying to keep cool and comfortable.

It is hot in New Orleans close to year round. The first week or two I may have flashed it, or stare at it obsessively but that gets old.(ok maybe not the staring at my own watch part)

I saw 'what I consider to be the ultimate in tacky.'

I was mall shopping and saw a guy wearing an all gold Day/Date -- what I call a "President" -- worn over top of his long sleve dress shirt.

Not peaking out of his sleeve.
On top of his sleeve.

You gotta be kiddin' me -- I thought.

Seriously, what kind of personality must you have to do this?

Wearing his "sub" over the "wet-suit" shirt.

Here in Southern FL I'm always wearing short sleeves or a pull-over also short sleeve. One thing about the White Exp. II is that's it's not overly distinguishable as a Rolex except to the trained eye!

Now when I wear my Plat/SS YM that's another story.

I had a work meeting this past week. The company is trying to incorporate the "Lean Six Sigma" principles into some of the processes we do for our clients.

We contracted 2 guys who are "black-belts" to aid in our discussion of what to do. Both of them had Rollies.

The leader has what looks to be a TT DateJust with a Jubilee braclet. His sidekick has what I'm pretty sure is a Blue Dial Air King.

Are Jubilee braclets hard to fit? His DateJust was flopping around all over the place! It was so bad that at some point, the watch dial would end up almost flipping right around right under his wrist. I thought my SD was hard to fit, but his DJ looked like a nightmare. It was way too loose.

Hey Jeff - I hear you bro, and I was in no way being critical of wearing a Rollie in a visible way. When the hot weather comes to L.A. this summer I will be doing the same.
What I am not so sympathetic to are the people who wear a Rollie with "attitude", more like the guy wearing it over his shirt sleeve.

As an interesting bit of history, the first person to wear his watch over his shirt sleeve was Andy Warhol. He was an obsessive collector of many things, including watches, and owned countless Rolex's, Cartiers, Patek's etc., almost all vintage. In addition to the major makes which we know, he collected obscure watches by such makers as Ditisheim, Jules Jurgenson of Copenhagen, and Pery. They are all listed in the Sotheby's cataloge for his estate sale, April 27th, 1988... Larry.

maybe its the way he likes his watches? i used to wear my watches like that(super loose) till i got a DJ, and the only reason when i wear the rolex well fitted is to stop the bracelet from stretching

I wear my DJ somewhat loose. I will roll my wrist and it comes down. Shake my wrist and it goes back up.

I like looking at it, especially after its complete rejuvenation. Not like I'm "flashing" a mother of pearl, diamonds and rubies on pink gold rapper-special watch.
