Watches in Bangkok
Still hanging out in Bangkok, relaxing, swimming and working out and trying to make travel plans for the next several months. Spent the other day walking around one of the upscale Shopping Centers, Siam Paragon. Seems most of the luxury watch brands have a Botique there. Icluding Time Midas store, a Rolex only store! Checked out the Yachmasters, very nice! Like how they are rounded off and fit great on the wrist. Also checked out the new GMT II in Solid Gold with the Green maxi Dial and ceramic bezel. That is one nice watch! Very heavy and made very well. Goes for around $21,000 US with 15% discount they are offering. If I had more money I would buy it! One interesting thing is Time Midas is so far the only AD I have found in Bangkok that will take your current Rolex watches as trade ins applied to purchasing new Rolex watches from their store. They had the whole complete collection of ROlex watches there, except the Sub LV. I was told the Sub LVs when they do get them in they sell them over the list price for 300,000 baht which is around $8500 US !! They are very hard to get over here. She freaked out when I showed her my LV on my wrist with the swaped out Black Bezel insert! LOL LOL BTW, they give 15% discount on all their watches (which actually puts them close to US price) then you get an additional 7% tax refund when leave the airport, if you are non-Thai citizen. They will give an additional 1% discount for cash.
Also went to the IWC botique and tried out the Spitfire Sliver face. A real classic looking watch. Thinking of getting to compliment my IWC UTC. I love the bracelets that IWC uses, the non-reflective glass (Rolex cold learn from that), and the anti-magnetic case, and 39mm size. Very slim fit. Tried out the Inginuir (Engineer) as well, very sturdy watch but too big at 42.5 mm. Now what really suprised me was tried out a GP (Gerrard-Perraxou - Spelling?) Sea Hawk. Now that is a nice watch!!! LArger than a Sub, but with the crown at 4 oclock and the way the case is rounded out, fits really nice! Goes for around $6500! Very nice watch. The GP cataolg they gave me has a lot of watch info as well, including a breakdown of how mechanical watch insides actuall work. Anyway, Bangkok and HOng KOng are great cities for the WIS to go window shopping. |
