Pic priority in rolex brochures

Hi Friends

I was flipping through the nice big rolex brochure. Maybe i hadnt picked up on this before, but it seems to go in sequence of "base" models to "high end" models. For example, it starts with airking, date, datejust, day date, and even within each subgroup, its ss, tt, full gold, diamond etc.

This got me quite interested in the positions.

Can anyone explain why the sea-dweller is BEFORE the submariner in steel in the brochure?

Here is a pic of the current state of my collection.

Hi Don,

The reason for this is probably that the SD is just ONE of a kind in the Rolex line-up with no variations at all.

The Sub on the other hand has various models starting with the no-date one and then going on to the SS-date, LV models, then TT models - Black and Blue as well as Serti dials....and finally the YG Sub.

Hi JJ

I thought of that yoo, but if you look in the catalogue, the non-date sub comes before the sea-dweller, then the sea-dweller, then the submariner.

Interesting aye?

Vic's theory sounds about right:

ND Sub: 14060M
SD: 16600
Sub Date: 16610

Yes, just saw that, Don. I suppose they wanted to show the no-date model and then have some sort of continuity with only date models.

Kind of OT, but I really wish Rolex would come out with a catolog like IWC or even GP or JLC. Stories, hitory, etc.. of each model. The IWC has got to be the best catolog I have ever seen.

Oooh, you allalmost had it with the number priority.

But, the plot thickens.

Page 38 of the brochure has this order: 77080, 77014, 77483, 77518

Page 39 has: 78240, 78274, 78273,

page 40: 178248, 178278, 178238, 178288, 178158

page 42: 178279, 178239, 178159

There are many more where rolex is not going on number sequence.

I have been through every page, section etc in the brochure, it seems rolex is going from "base" to "higher" end.

I believe it could be a matter of rolex v WIS. For example, the ss daytona is the "base" and first in the daytona set, although we hold this to be "higher". Possibly the same extrapolation applies to the sd coming before sub.

Stunning les paul NKO!!!! I might get a gold top but currently hunting for the perfect strat.

It pains me to say it, but the sea dweller may be one behind the submariner ss model in terms of rolex designation of base to higher end. In my books its the king of the deep

Sea Dweller, even though its "lesser" then the sub date (pictorially speaking)

You are privileged to have owned almost every model. Luck man!!!
