i took my DJ in to the RSC in london and they said it was too old for them to touch- however the service sheet they gave me had some info i have been after for a while anyway- i was told it probably wasnt 1953 but a bit later.

the model:6305/0
bracelet: B200 jubilee 9-13/2 links(???)

the case number is 87336- i thought that was the serial number- shouldnt it have 1 more digit if so?

as always any help or info would be greatly appreciated

According to my source, Sam, your 6 digit SN falls somewhere between 1952 - 53.

Question: according to this website my GMT ser# 13894XX was built between 1959 and 1060. However, the same site says the 1575 movement didn't come out till 1965. What gives?

Sorry, Typo! Mean't between 1959 and 1960.

I don't understand. Why would it be "too old to touch"? If it is an authentic Rolex, they should service it.

David 1.3 mil. sounds right for circa 1966. 1965 sounds about right for the change from the 1565 to the 1575.

Now they made a few 6305 with left hand winders but if I remember they were gold from early 50s with the Cal A296.Now serial dates like Ed said 52-53,but now parts for the Cal A296 getting harder to find but not impossible.

shouldnt the serial number have another digit though? or am i being a doughnut?

the dial on mine is probably a later one (at service)as everyone who looks at it say its late 50s/early 60s and every DJ i've seen with my bezel(castellated bezel??) had a pie tin dial or ivory white

Yes I should have read your post properly it should have 6 digits.Around this time Rolex were sometimes putting the date code on the inside of the case backs.So the S/N numbers can be very confusing are there any Roman numbers like I, II, III or IV for the year quarter, plus two number digits for the year on case back.Or perhaps the last digit has just worn away on your case.Check what movement is in your watch,should be the Cal A296 .

i havent got the tool to take the back off- next time i take it into my friends shop i will get him to write down all the details and get back on here with them
