Anyone with a Sub AND GMT/Expl help out...

with a sizing question. I have a Sub Date and an Explorer II. Sub fits perfectly, but Explorer II is either too tight or too loose.

I have the Sub with 1 link removed and on the 2nd hole from largest size on the clasp. The Explorer is too loose with all links in the bracelet and 2nd from largest on the clasp, but too tight with 3rd from largest hole on the clasp.

So, does anyone have their Sub configured same as mine, and if so, how do you have your GMT or Explorer configured?

TIA guys....

All 4 of these watches have a different clasp and with the same amount of links removed (on teh oyster bracelets anyways) they are all different in terms of how loose or tight they are. What I would suggest is that if it bothers you that much, buy a Sub/SD clasp for your Exp2. that way the bracelet will be identical. Now remember that the caseback is a little higher too on your Sub vs the Exp2 so there will be a diff there as well.

Try removing one link from the 6 Oclock side of the bracelet. Then try. If too tight or too loose adjust the micro pin adjustment on the clasp. That hopefully should get it just right and the clasp centered on the inside of your wrist.

Hi Adam,

First off, the Exp-II comes fitted with the Oysterlock bracelet which has 13 original links all up.

Now tell me this....how have you got this configuration sorted out on your watch? How many links do you have on the '12' side and how many on the '6' side?

Ideally (and for a perfect fit), you should have an 8 + 5 arrangement, more links being on the '12' side naturally.

If you have to take off ONE link then do so from the '12' side so you will now have a 7 + 5 arrangement. Then make some final adjustments with the micropin inside the clasp. You should be fine.

Get back to me anyway....so I can help you a bit more.

Cheers - JJ

Hi JJ...The above is how I have it, and the *&^()^% thing isn't right

Weird, my "bluey" is perfect, this Explorer just doesn't want to play ball

Well, they are completely different bracelets, Adam.

Now that you mention it, with the Sub-date models I have to do nothing - out of box and on the wrist.

But with the Exp-II bracelet, I did have to move the micropin ONE hole in and still wasn't too happy with the fit.

Much prefer the longer clasps on the FLIPLOCK bracelet.

You could try one more thing, Adam.

Take the watch to your AD and ask him to put 4½ links on the '6' side....which means he will have to take off ONE full link and replace it ONE ½ link.

Might work!!

I don't think there is a ½ link for Oysters, just the 1¼ link for Jubilee's, unless you know different.

Failing that, it will be off to a new home!

Coming from you, Adam....that's a bit of shocker!!

The SS Sub-date definitely has a HALF link at the end....in fact, it has 4½ links on the 6 o'clock side.

I got you now, one of the permanently fixed links. Good idea, I could get him to get me one of those. I shall enquire Tuesday.

I am looking for excuses to thin the collection, there is something new I want, just trying to justify ;)
