No activity.

I've got a theory why there aren't people using this forum. It breaks down to two parts.

The first part is simply people not posting because they don't see others posting. Catch 22. Only time sorts that one out.

The second is that people aren't posting threads eliciting replies such as 'nice one', 'woooo', 'superb', 'u da man'. Namely, the place isn't attracting the usual ego deficient people looking for attention and the numpties that respond.

I could be wrong but looking at the posting pattern on other forums seems to support me.

No activity is certainly the case here. One reason is ... I really haven't officially launched the website. Second ... I am not sure how to get the word out about this site.

I feel the Vbulletin software is superior and in time people will find they enjoy using this site. Any ideas on getting the URL out there ?

vBulletin is miles in front of the other forums. On the other sites you see a great amount of 'newbie' questions repeated over and over again, with the regulars telling people to search first. Hey, their search system is so poor that it's almost impossible for someone to find the information. Hence, the 'newbie' post. Take Timezone as an example. You get the most strange results from a search. There are threads I know exist that never appear in the search results yet they are dedicated to the topic being searched for. Timezone and the other top tier forums are a lost cause as a source of archived information.

vBulletin does not suffer this problem. If it's ever been posted then the information can be found. The database is vBulletin's strength.

Now, a search using Google for 'rolexforums' brings results at the top of the list. Well, it's the only result...........

However, 'rolex forums' gets results on the second or third page if you have standard Google settings of 10 per page (I have 100 results per page so it's on my first page).

You could enter more Rolex and watch related terms into the metadata for the index page. That will generate more search hits. Nevertheless, even if people can find the forum that doesn't mean they will post in it. The real problem is identified by yourself; getting the word out. The problem is that the top tier watch forums seem to operate as as a single organism in deleting anything that suggests going beyond their clique's borders. Notice that the 'staff' and moderators (goderators) often share roles across the top tier sites. It's their private club.

Hence, posting in other forums suggesting there is somewhere else to go invites deletion. Perhaps the way around this is to post in other forums and have a signature which includes a link to this place. They may be less draconian with that.

Another method is a little shifty. Seed the forum with users (you do have a flame account on the forum, don't you? All good admins have a few spare accounts which they can use to anonymously participate in some threads).

Seed the forum with threads. The more information they contain, the more search hits there will be. Further, it gives the impresion of a growing community. Once other start posting the use use of the seed accounts can be wound back.

Here's another theory: Your repellent (and constant) bitching and whining about how stupid/shallow/egotistical everyone is (everyone except you, natch) has driven off the few people who've taken the time to read the threads on this site so far. Good job.

The bottom line is, you've got an amazingly snotty attitude, and I can't see why ANYONE would want to post on this forum with the likes of you around. I do because people like you entertain me: Cannon fodder.

Not that it appears you've been on the forum in quite some time. Maybe a good chance to start with a fresh slate by deleting your utterly moronic posts?

Molex, you're just another evangelist on a mission. However, if you feel I'm cannon fodder then let's see the content of your arguments rather than the sycophantic drivel you post at Timezone.

You want every Rolex forum to be another mirror of your own monucular view on the alleged supremacy of Rolex? How utterly ridiculous. That's why your fervent support of all things Rolex is really simply pathetic evangelism thinly disguised.

Simply disseminating propaganda isn't discussion. Why not try a technical discussion of a feature. Oh, I apologise. I forgot that you don't actually know much about the technical merits.

Well yes Mark started TRF as we know it today, then we had around 35 members including the mod team that most have been around since day one.But its pointless resurrecting such a old post so its now closed, its all past history under the bridge.
