eBay info required!

With all the knowledge on here regarding eBay reporting, can someone enlighten me as to what may be occurring here. I listed a Rolex inner/outer box for sale in the UK. It has been removed twice with the reason that it did not contain the item, ie a watch and by eBay rules this is not allowed. I then did a search for Rolex box and found loads for sale!! I have a suspicion that some one has reported it as a fake and that is why it was removed! I wouldn't mind but I bought the inner box on here!!! The inner is for a 16613 and the outer for a 16700. Outer has sticker damage. They are the same period and inner fits outer. I haven't got a clue why this has happened. Any answers anybody ??

I have read somewhere that some countries ebays are not allowing the sales of Rolex boxes and or papers as they can then be used to promulgate the sales of counterfeit watches.

I cannot recall where I read that but it was from ebay. Having said that there are, as you mentioned, lots of listings for boxes and papers. So I do not know how they police this policy.

If you still have the box you could list it here on the For Sale section

You are attempting to sell a prohibited item, an empty Rolex box. Although you are correct that many are listed, eBay does not allow the sale of empty Rolex boxes. Hope this helps!

Here is an excerpt from eBay guidlines:

"We do not allow the sale of branded dustbags, watch boxes, tins, pouches, ring boxes, tissue paper, or other items that could be sold to somesone with ill intentions allowing them to make their replica look more legitimate. Please do not list these items without an accompanying product. Trademark infringement is unlawful and violates eBay's policies. A trademark is a unique sign (such as a name, word, phrase, logo, or symbol) that a company uses to identify its products and/or services. Using another company's trademark in a way that may confuse buyers about the source of goods or services, or confuses buyers into believing that the seller is affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the trademark owner is both illegal and against eBay's policies. Examples include counterfeits, unauthorized replica items and items that bear the brand or logo of a company without that company's permission. Guideline: If the product you are listing bears the brand or logo of a company, but it wasn't made or authorized by that company, don't sell it on eBay. Sellers are not permitted to list items that encourage or enable others to infringe another party or company's trademarks, or that provide instruction that would enable and encourage others to commit such acts. For more information visit the following Help page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/encouraging.html"

Try listing it as an genuine or authentic box and in your description make it clear that the watch is not included. Or perhaps copy and paste a listing that doesn't seem to alert eBay, using your pictures of your item. Hey, it's just a thought. Can't hurt to try.

I can see where Ebay is coming from but then I see some of the other rubbish that they allow to be sold on line.

The question comes down to unauthorised use of a Company's Logo whether it is a box, a hat, a shirt, a bag or any other product.

If the box is genuine then Ebay should not have a problem with the item.

We have the same rules on this Forum.

The reason ebay doesn't allow the boxes being sold there, has nothing to do with the company's logo or trademark infringement. They do not allow empty boxes to be sold because of what usually ends up in the box - a fake watch. Same goes for blank warranty papers.

I know you're thinking that there are watch boxes for sale all over ebay - which is correct. Some slip through, some don't. I know it's tough to swallow, but there are millions of items being sold on ebay and they can't catch everything.

Agreed. But I find it difficult to believe that they just "slip through" when the SAME sellers of the box sets list and sell, list and sell and judging by their feedback CONTINUE to do it....and HAVE for months. JMO.

You're right. And I doubt eBay is motivated by quality more than by profit.

Rock, maybe you should contact ebay for an answer. I'd like to hear what they have to say myself. Good luck.
