I will be flying to jarkarta next week. I chanced upon this rolex sea dweller double red ref 1665. This watch looks abosulutely cool to me. It originates from an ex diver master whom has retired. I forsee massive overhaul of the watch since the watch has been "well-used", but it is still in working condition.

what are some of the things that I should take note when I buy from him? What is a good price for me to buy from him. I do not want to take the plunge immedately as I feel that I still do not know the sea dweller well enough. Please do offer your opinion.

Thats a very good link above now with the single or double reds provenance is the most important today.For every genuine Red out there today, there will be 20 plus that have faked dials. So be very weary and get watch checked out by Rolex before parting with any cash.

If you get serious about this watch, please, please check those website listed above.

Also, post plenty of pictures here for opinions. There are a few of us here that know a thing or two about these. Apart form the obvious things to look for (dial, hands etc.) there should be some numbers stamped inside the case-back.

Anyway, it's just an excuse for me to post a picture of mine.

Sorry, I'm having a lot of difficulties posting pictures so I have included it in different threads.

I wonder what is the price for this watch now.

its 2000ft to 610m, not 1650ft to 500m as mentioned in the "red watches" link.

any opinion on this?

Just a small observation, i notice that the "L" in Rolex, under the crown and twelve oclock position, to be in slightly different positions on the pictures of the two watches posted by jac67 and angus, i could be seeing things or its due to the camera angle

The watch in the pictures you posted is a FAKE! 100% FAKE!

Firstly, the dial is wrong. I have seen this dial before, and is a well known fake.
- The "L" in Rolex is not aligned correctly.
- The font in the printing is wrong.
- Look at the W in Sea-Dweller, totally incorrect.
- Minute markers wrong.

The case-back is fake.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot ,the bezel insert is wrong.

Although picture of movement may be real, it's more likely that the picture was hijacked.

Be very careful on ebay, although the are correct DRSD's for sale there, there are also a number of fakes as well.

No, not an estate sale.

Just search long and hard for that one.

People often say it's the "chase" that makes it all worth while, BUT I get tired of sifting through all the rubbish at times!

Took me a good 18 months or so to find that one.
