Purchasing a Rolex in the Caribbean

I'm a newbie here to I apologize if this has been asked and answered before but.....

We're headed to the caribbbean soon and are looking at purchasing his / hers Rolex watches. We plan on purchasing from Goldfinger in St. Maarten or an authorized dealer on another island and I was curious as to what kind of discount that we can expect. We are looking at the platinum yachtmaster models if that makes any difference.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Stones, As far as St.Maarten, I can't say what the tax policy's are, however in Grand Cayman There is no Tax! That being said, I would recommend that you verify prices before you go abroad, in this way you will be sure if you are getting a "DEAL".

Thanks for the welcome. Actually the entire Caribbean is duty free to a point. The purchase of a Rolex will bring us over the allowance but there are still significant tax advantages to purchasing in the states.

I guess I am looking for some idea of a reasonable percentage that the Yachtmaster Platinum might be discounted below MSRP. Is it possible that they might be discounted 20% under retail at an authorized dealer.

Hi Stones,

If you happen to get to the Grand Caymans, I was there 2 weeks ago at the Kirk Freeport store and was given a 15% discount off retail on a Sub TT Serti (116613LN).

It goes for US$12,500 at my nearest AD and retails for US$13,000. It went for US$11,050 at the Kirk Freeport store. There is no sales tax in the Grand Caymans but I paid another $450 on duty coming back in through Miami.

Safe travels!

Bob

Wouldn't one of our trusted sellers be a better choice? I would think the discounts would be better through our contacts, plus no tax anyway.

Just saying...

A rather a dull way to purchase a special purchase whilst on holidays, especially as it will be his and her watches. Memories are worth more then saving a few dollars.

These particular model should be at least 25% off retail
especially buying two of them, lately the steel and platinum
is not moving as fast as other models.
Make sure these are not for sale here at TRF first so you can compare.
