NZ vs Australia

Seems there are significant discounts in NZ and Aussie land as well.
Are the discounts from an AD about the same in those two countries?
Are the SS Daytonas readily available there?

NZ prices are much, much better - I've just sold my Sub-date and SD to two guys in Aussie land and both of them have saved quite a few bucks by purchasing from me.

SS Daytonas are NOT available easily. As usual, you have to be a regular customer here. I could probably get one from one of my AD's, but the list price here is NZ$12,895 = US$9,670....and that's because our Kiwi Dollar is flying HIGH, HIGH, HIGH....waaaaaay too damn high for our economy. The exporters are crying tears of blood!!

Today the Kiwi dollar = 75US¢.

From my experiences in Melbourne at one of the Rolex ADs, they'd not budge on price at all... about $200 was all I'd get out of a new GMT Master 2.

JJ - what sort of discount would you expect to get on a Sub no-date in NZ at Mansors?

I could get a very good deal from the other AD here in Auckland....probably 15~20% off list.

Not sure, but I think it should be around NZ$6800~7000 or thereabouts.

I don't know if the dollar fluctuations either way have much bearing on the price of Rolex here in Australia at AD's. What we do have here is a GST (General Sales Tax) of 10% on most goods. I have haggled two AD's one at the Gold Coast, the other in Brisbane. The GC one wouldn't budge at all unless I had an airticket for international travel, then she would knock off the GST (10%). That was it.

The city AD was a bit better. He was prepared to go down 10% and a further 2.5% if I paid cash! This was on an Explorer II, which in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't buy.

Both these dealers were Chinese and had shops in Hong Kong as well, so they knew prices pretty well that it wouldn't be worth a trip to HK just to buy one. I can however, maybe fly to Auckland and back on economy and maybe break even with one of JJ's dealers.

Do you guys have a GST in NZ? If so, what is the percentage?

If I was coming over from Brisbane, would I be exempt from that tax?

So.. it seems the best prices for AD Rolex purchases are in
Hong Kong?
Bangkok?
Aussieland
NZ?
Be interesting to pick one model and see what we come up with in all of the
geographically diverse areas that are represented on this BB.

SS Daytona or perhaps a
TT sub
New GMT ?

Assuming discounts here, what I see is 5% for SS and 10 % for TT and up to 15% on gold models unless you are dealing with a hot watch. Then you just pay the freight. Am I right for US clients?

Hi Steve,

GST (Goods and Services Tax) in NZ is 12.5%, but the AD can waive that if you take delivery of the watch at Auckland airport, TAX FREE, on your way out!!

Discounts in Sydney is not bad recently bought a GMT Master 2 MSRP was $7125 I got it for $6450 AUD which I think is normal discount but I believe muh cheaper than any European countries excluding Asia wherein I bought my second sea dweller for $2500 AUD. less than MSRP....
