Importing/exporting into Switzerland

Can any Swiss members or members sending watches to Switzerland tell me if they have had or know of any issues or problems importing a Rolex or Tudor into Switzerland ?

I haven't had any problems (yet?) importing watches into Switzerland. Although watches fall under the category of goods subjected to import controls, which mainly includes food items, it is less of a problem if it is not brand new. Btw, Swiss customs is entitiled to confisicate fakes/replicas of any branded item.

Generally, imported goods valued below CHF 66 (books upto CHF 209 and presents upto CHF 100) are tax free. Others attract a VAT of 7.6% + custom duty (weight based) + postal handling (not shipping but customs clearance) fee.

The value of the goods for customs clearance is based either on the CN22/CN23 customs declaration or a commercial invoice. If the value cannot be determined or if the mentioned value is perceived to be low, the recepient could be contacted for purchase receipt; else a notional value will be used.
