Vintage Speedy Mk II - Strange Time Loss Pattern?
For a vintage watch, my old 1969 Speedy keeps almost perfect (- 5 seconds in 14 hours) time when wound up & then laid face up on a flat surface, but whilst still very accurate given it's age, looses time at slightly over twice rate that when worn.
Any thoughts? |

Hmmm - No responses
Obviously any watch will vary timekeeping with position. What I was trying to gauge was whether people thought losing more time whilst being worn compared to being laid flat was strange. The watch was serviced within the last 2 years. |

It's hand wound.
I've edited my last post to remove my nonsense comment about topping up the power reserve. Sorry for any confusion caused by being a muppet. |

Hmm a 1969 Speedy.
In 1968, Omega replaced the cal 321 movement with the 861 which was a more accurate movement and cheaper to produce. This movement (as the 1861) is still being used in the current line of Omega Speedmaster Professionals. The 861 movement was a bit more accurate than the 321, 21600A/h instead of 18000A/h. It also used a shuttle cam instead of a column wheel for the chronograph. As far as accuracy is concerned my sons Speedy (3573.50 sapphire sandwich) has the 1861 (used since 1997) and it runs fast by about 15 seconds/day when lying flat crown up to about spot on to +2 seconds/day when worn. This is at odds with your watch which is the opposite. Go figure. I would say old age might be the cause as a service can only do so much for a watch of this era. Enjoy wearing it. He lets me wear it for pix only.It was his 18th birthday/Uni entry present. Any pix of your 861?
