Just installed windows 7

as the title says i just installed 7 and it does seem to run a bit faster and there is a little shake feature that i havent quite figured out yet but i saw some cube dsktop things before i bought it any of you guys using 7 and figured out how to activate the 3d desktop?

Any other cool features i would like to know as well

I have had W7 for about a year.

I really like it because it seems like a logical progression from XP, which is contrary to many of the complaints I heard about Vista.

As far as the 3D desktop, I'm not sure what you mean. There is the Aero feature that give a translucent effect.

I just googled the 3D desk top and it looks to me like those are downloadable applications.

This is really cool, I'm glad you asked.

On my HP, the help function offers these instructions:

To switch windows using Flip 3D
Press Ctrl+Windows logo key +Tab.

Press Tab to move through the windows. (You can also press Right Arrow or Down Arrow to move forward one window, or press Left Arrow or Up Arrow to move backward one window.)

Click a window in the stack to display that window, or click outside the stack to close Flip 3D without switching windows. You can also rotate the wheel on your mouse to quickly move through the open windows.

Tip
You can also move through open windows by pressing the Windows logo key +Tab and holding down the Windows logo key. Press Tab until the window you want is at the front of the stack, and then release the Windows logo key.

Flip 3D is part of the Aero experience. If your computer does not support Aero, or if you are using a theme other than a Windows 7 theme, you can view the open programs and windows on your computer by pressing Alt+Tab. To move through the open windows, hold the Alt key and press the Tab key, press the arrow keys, or use your mouse.

I got the windows switcher/flip 3D short cut pinned to my windows 7 taskbar, like it used to be in Vista.

How do you do that?

1. Right-click on your desktop, select New, and then select Shortcut.

2. In the location field, type C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe dwmapi #105 (assuming that Windows is installed on C:)

3. Click Next, and then type Window Switcher for the shortcut name, then press Finish.

4. Right-click on the Window Switcher shortcut that you just created and then click on Properties.

5. Click on the Change Icon… button.

6. In the Look for icons in this file field type %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\imageres.dll, and then press Enter.

7. Select the first icon and then click on OK.

8. Click on OK to dismiss the properties dialog.

9. Drag the Window Switcher shortcut from your desktop onto the taskbar.

I missed it when I updated from Vista to 7 last year.
Only found out about it recently while searching for another windows 7 trick.

Not that I know of. But fixing it there with the instructions above is quick and easy.
