Craigslist Pawnshop fake

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...021184912.html

I'm interested to see how they will take the news that it is a fake.

I'm not remotely looking to buy anything from CL. I'm just seeing what kind of trash I can turn up.

My eyes and those pics are not the greatest but I fail to see the fakeness.

I called and let them know. They were courteous and are pulling it. Their other watches (Sub and T-Bird) look fine.

Paint fill on the bezel is sloppy. Minute indices touch the white gold on the luminous hour indices, which is the biggest giveaway. Probably 75% of fakes use an R serial.

You're looking at the Explorer II, right? You have to look at more than cyclops magnification.

I went to Value Pawn in Tampa Fl yesterday and guess what? They had 2 watches for sale a ladies DJ and a Mens DJ both had fake bands marked Rolex, 1 was a conversion and 1 didnt wind right. I told them and they said its hard for them to tell etc but still put them 4 sale in the case. I asked them how much for the mens 2 tone conversion plastic and they said 3500. I told them at best its a little over 1k and they said they loaned 2500 on it. Are they idiots or what? I should start selling to them I said to myself.

The Exp is fine to me as well, i believe it is a 16550.

Minute markings touching the hour indices is enough for me. Rolex does not do that. Every 16550, and for that matter, any other sport model, has a discernable gap between the indice and the hash. The two touching is a hallmark of a fake.

Add a Sub bracelet, coronet that looks more like a sea monkey crown, second hand is too long, bezel paintfill is laid on too thick....it's not even close.

Come on, guys......
