Screwdriver and screws?

Hi all. What is the recommended size bergeon screwdriver for a new Subc bracelet?

Secondly, I have a couple of mangled screwheafs. Where can I obtain genuine screws online?

1.6mm. You should be able to sweet talk an AD into giving you free replacement screws.

Many here recommend the Rolex ref.2100 screwdriver that comes with the SD tool kit. The 1.6mm bergeon has reportably caused damage to the screwheads, due to it not fitting properly.

The SD tool kit is a fairly rare item to find. However, I have recently been successful in locating a supplier. Feel free to PM me and I will gladly provide the details.

Cheers...

The 1-6mm bergeon is exactly the same size as the SD screwdriver, so perhaps it was a poor workman they always blame the tools.

There was a recent posting on this forum of needing to file down a 1.6mm bergeon to make it fit the SubC screwhead.

I bought a set of jeweler's screwdrivers from Bob Davis on mywatchmaker.net and the 1.6 mm from that kit works just perfect on my new Sub-C. The one piece of counsel I will provide is BE VERY CAREFUL when you loosen the screws for the first time. They come from the factory with Loctite and are quite stubborn to loosen. I believe this is why many folks are having marred screw heads. My job was not perfect, but I tried really hard to maintain consistent pressure on the driver while loosening, so the blade would not pop out of the screw head's groove.

I had to re-size my bracelet about 5 times to get it right and it is a darn good thing I had that screwdriver! Now I just need to decide whether I want to add Loctite or not.

No need, there's probably enough residue left on the threads to make it tight.

The Bergeon 1.6mm is fine to use but the tip is finished in more of a chisel type point so there is some movement when located in the screw head this issue is not the case with the screwdriver from the SD tool kit (well to a lesser extent) so as I found and I sourced this info I believe off www.minus4plus6.com and gently filed my Bergeon down so the tip was a little bit blunter. This now seats a lot a better and less likely to jump out the screw head and chew it up.

As to the loctite I found as I removed the screws for the first time there was residue of a thread lock compound on the screws but after resizing a few time it had all been removed so I choose to re-apply loctite 222 to all the screws as per the how to guide again over on minus4plus6.

Hope that helps
Sam
