PAM352 thoughts

I just put a deposit down on a 352 yesterday. The strange thing is that when I got home I did some research on it and saw some pics and noticed it has the brown tobacco dial and gold hands. Somehow i didn't notice these features as I was trying the watch on....weird. I called the salesman and asked him and he confirmed that it is a tobacco dial. Then when he looked at the watch he was surprised that it had gold hands because he also didn't notice them when he was showing me the watch. He told me to come in and see it again to make sure I am 100% satisfied with it before I go any further.
I was originally in the market for a 312 or 328 and the 352 is basically the same except for the previously mentioned details and it's also titanium. I never buy a watch to impress others, but I'm wondering what you think of the gold hands. In person I didn't notice them, but in pictures they are bright yellow gold. I'm planning on using this as a daily wear, sport and dress. What are your thoughts?

Thoughts? Brown and Ti is the way to go.

Other thought. Go and try it on again!

When I got my 359 I tried on a 352 as well. I went back and forth between the two. The 359 won, but not by much.

Wasn't too familiar with the watch but I like it! Not sure why the SS/Ti models don't get more love...?

I don't mind the dial color, but do you think gold hands are okay for a daily wear watch?

One thing

I don't know whether the bracelet on 352 is Ti as well. If so IMHO it will be very easy to put on a lot of scratch :-(

uhhhhh yeah! Why not! They compliment the watch.

You sound like you are having serious reservations. Get the 312 if that is what you really want.

I love my Pam, but can't make it a daily wearer due to it's size / inability to fit under certain shirt sleeves.

Not sure what reservations you have regarding gold hands. The gold hands make the watch more special/interesting to me. Good luck!

I am in the same boat. I'll probably end up with the 312. Nothing wrong with that as the 312 is probably more versatile. But I really like the light-weight case of the titatium 351. I am back and forth on this one.

Nice pics! The brown dial looks very subtle. I can handle that.

The gold hands were starting to grow on me, but now I'm not sure about the titanium. I keep reading that it tarnishes fast and needs constant polishing and that it scratches easily.
I was going to get the 352 at the price of the 312 and I don't know what to do now. Gonna go there today and try it on and see if it smiles at me.

Take your time and get what you want. I've had a couple of titanium PAMs now and will attest that they are a joy to own. There are two key things to keep in mind about Ti:

1. It is significantly lighter than its steel counterparts. This can be a good or bad thing. You decide.

2. It is noticeably darker than its steel counterpart. This can be a good or bad thing. Again, you decide.

All the talk about it scratching more or tarnishing more is all baloney in my book. I guess it all depends on how you treat your watch. Let us know what you decide!

The only reason I haven't bought the 351 yet is the fact that it is 17.5mm thick. I have that on the Deepsea and I do think it is 2-3mm too thick. The Ti helps though.

Go back and have another look. But it has been my preferred choice until I found myself a mint preowned 233..

I went back and tried it on and although I liked the gold hands, I didn't like the bracelet anymore. My AD had a watch even going on and had a bunch of Panerais to look at. The salesman showed me a list of Panerais and I saw that they had a 351. I was so excited and told him I'd buy it right away.....it turns out that a different salesperson just sold the watch a moment ago. I was so disappointed. BUT, then they took out a bunch of other watches and I saw something that amazed me, the 359. I've only seen it online and never liked it, but in person it was just soooo perfect so I ordered one!

The 359 is a nice piece too. I am turned on to the 351 mostly because of the light-weight titanium case. I was at Tourneau yesterday. The only Luminor 1950 3 Days models they had in stock were the 320 and 359. Atleast I got to try the new 1950 case on for size. Definitely thicker and chunkier than the regular Luminor cases, but wears nice, although kind of heavy. That;s why I want to check out the titantium 351. The jury is still out on the brown dial and gold hands though.

I had the same experience Mike, but with the 351 - the 359 was my first Panerai recently (yes I know I'm late in the game but better late than never!) but I also tried on the 351 at the same time. I went for the 359 but I thought the 351 was a really handsome watch.

To the OP - I'd say the combo of titanium, brown dial and gold hands is very appealing, especially with the brown strap that comes with the 351. Sorry, I haven't seen the 352 in the flesh.

PS Mike, have you got your 29 yet?

I've owned a 312 and a 351. The weight difference is considerable. One of the reasons I parted with the 312 was that my wrist felt sore at the end of the day. Granted I have puny wrists, but the 351 is perfection to me.
