Newbie questions on watch Care?
Hello everyone.
Have a couple questions regarding upkeep on the watch. How do you clean or do you even clean after: 1.) Swimming in a salt water filtered pool or chlorine filtered pool? 2.)Diving or swimming in the ocean? 3.)Do you use some type of watch cleaning solution or water after the watch gets dirty from normal wear? ie Sweaty summer months. I don't plan on taking the watch off too often as it cost enough to keep on 24 hours. ![]() I live in South Louisiana and it gets real hot and humid so my watch will get dirty over the summer. No different from a lot of you I am sure. My Tag watch use to leave dark residue on my wrist from the links and lubricant. I would like to try and avoid getting a NATO, etc for summer months as I love the satainless look. I will go for that look for a second watch later on. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance for your responses! ![]() |

I usually rinse mine in clean water after swimming in the ocean/pool. I also shower with it on and use extra shampoo to give it a rinse.

I wear mine in the shower to clean it; that should work for any of the circumstances you list.
I wash it with shampoo along with my hair. I use a clarifying formula that rinses really clean to avoid soapy residue. Let it sit on it's side to allow the water to run out of the band, then dry with a soft towel. Nice & clean! ![]()

Typically, if you wash it occasionally with warm water and liquid hand soap, you will remove the excess body oils and residue that wear on the metal parts..
You should always rinse after salt water.. Salt is a mineral (rock) and it will grind the parts down if left in the cracks and crevasses....... ![]()

I used to swim and dive with a Tudor Oyster around 1964 and did rince it on my arm every day . The watch is still running as it should .

I personally believe that a quick rinse would be the correct thing to do for the bracelet, but I don't think it matters much to the watch. However, I never did anything to my watches right after sweating/swimming/etc., and I'm still wearing 50's and 60's Rolex.

In the hot summer I wash mine every couple of weeks. Tooth brush, liquid soap and water. Just be careful not to drop it.
