If that's what makes it "tick", what makes it "tock"? Inquiring minds want to know.
Just kidding, Nick. Thanks for another gteat photo post. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Fair enough Nick. ![]() ![]() Anyway, I have rarely seen a pro golfer at a big event wearing his Rolex whilst playing including those Golfing Rolex Ambassadors listed on the Rolex web. Great photography BTW. Steve |

Wow... translated for those of us who still measure things in body parts, that would be only .0033". Is that the diameter of the pivot at it's thinnest (I hope) as the the end looks tapered. The shank of the pivot looks much thicker than .003". What material is the pivot made from? Are there other designs that increase surface area and robustness while maintaining the low friction required?

It hasn't taken you long to pick up the local flavour at TRF, Nick. You're a wise and diplomatic man; a bit like our JJ! Another interesting and beautifully photographed post. Me? I never take my watch off because for all that, I know it's designed to be worn. Thanks again. |

Thanks Nick I see the point you are making.
Rolex Australia did say to me the other day that "it may be prudent not to wear a watch while playing golf". You know when you play golf, the club just doesn't hit the ball, it also is intended to hit the ground and take a divot. Now taking the right amount of divot is not always the case, and a big divot could cause a significant amount of force on the watch and the pivots of the balance as Nick has mentioned. So I would not personally wear any valuable watch while playing golf, because the probability of me taking a big divot would be high and therefore the risk of damage to the watch would also be high. |

Darn! I was hoping the prize would be a Nick Hacko redo of my favourite watch.
![]() Hmmm..... another of my scathingly brilliant ideas. Lol-x Steve, here ya go! Sponsor a contest with the winner getting a Nick overhaul of their watch. Should only cost you..... ummm... a lot. ![]() Waddaya think, troops, good idea for a contest prize?

![]() ![]() And just to let everyone know I have never had any "financial relations" with Nick, but if the right deal came around, why not. Anyway, getting back to the topic, those pivots are miniature. Thanks Nick those are exemplary photos, the instructional quality and content is second to none. |

![]() Don't you think that would be a great contest idea? Or even better, a lottery or something like that. Everybody interested would put up a bit of money, and the winner gets a Nick watch overhaul. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Al I'm not adverse to the notion, but instead of discussing it here lets, if you don't mind, do it on the suggestions forum, as there are a number of things to be said, and I don't want to detract from the issues and interest in the topic of this thread

Great information Nick and when you stop and think of that mini mechanical marvel on our wrists. With all the shocks in a day, then we moan if its just out by a couple of seconds,it should put in a different perspective.
