How many owners is too many?

First time poster long time lurker to the Panerai forums.

I was just wondering to get other people's opinions I'm close to pulling the trigger on a PAM 111J both from the grey market one is for sale by the original owner[19XX/3500] the other is for sale by the second owner [25XX/3500].

The watch with the two previous owners, where I'd be the third, will come at least $900 less then the one owner watch.

Both watch owners have all documents/papers and histories for the watch. The one owner watch is rated at 95%+ where as the two owner watch is rated at 90-94% [ minor swirls around bracelet and areas of strap changes but nothing that cannot be polished out].

Both are offering 3 OEM straps but the '2 owner' watch has a strap where the previous owner made an additional punch mark into the leather.

I don't even have the watch yet but the strap bug has hit me!

Is the $900 difference justifiable or should I lean towards the one owner watch.

Thanks for looking in.

I would go for the 2nd owner watch. $900 is a lot of money when you look at the value of the 111.

I think if a BNIB was $900 more and you really wanted a BNIB watch than yes, in thgis case you are buyinga used watch regardless and both seem to ahev bene cared for pretty well. $900 is substanial enough for me to chose the "2 Owner" watch.

I'd go for the cheaper and buy $900 in straps

$900 is a LOT for a 111. Make sure you do your homework on the sellers. If the deal is to good to be true, it is....

Number of owners would never bother me. Condition, price and good feeling from the seller is all that matters to me.

You know I never thought about it until just now, but for both of my Panerai I'm the second owner.

Don't know about others, but not a fan of used straps.

Just saying...

900 difference is indeed alot of money for a 111. So i would weight in on the cheaper watch and make sure it is what it is and no surprise later. I am not a fan of wearing someone's sweat on my wrist so i would take the extra money to buy some nice straps.

I would have to try and take a close look on both before deciding. But I may go for the "2 owner" watch..

Depending on condition I would pull the trigger on the one for the $900 less and use for extra 'straps'. Btw, I'm third owner on both of mine....

Thanks for the opinions guys convinced me to go the $1100 dollar cheaper route. The one owner watch, local deal, was more expensive due to the availability of the watch in my area being so scarce. The '2 owner watch' the pricing was normal per the TZ market.

Now the hard part waiting for the watch to come to me!! I even got the '2 owner' watch to throw in two more straps. Hooray!!

I must say I must give props to you guys here in the forums as I kept on reading be patient on hunting for a watch on TZ and the likes as good deals exist!

Congrats and post photos when it comes! Patience is the key with purchasing these watches. Local supply and pricing often leaves much to be desired due to the relative scarcity of PAMs. You can find the watch you want at a good price if you are willing to wait and keep your eyes open.
