You can get a good deal at an AD? There's lots of good deals on eBay, the problem is finding a reputable seller that you can 100% trust. I don't know anything about PhilWatch, but have noticed them a ton on eBay.

That's great that YOU can get such a discount, however most of us don't have such a relationship with our ADs.

Phil Watch Experience and Feedback?

yes, I bought a 1997 14060 from Phil Watch (as posted on you know
where). It was exactly as described and was guaranteed as
authentic. Same for Becker Time,

Can only speak from 1 personal dealing. I wasn't happy with the condition of the watch purchased, but returned it and got a refund.
Wherever you go, whatever you buy, ask all relevant questions and make appopriate checks. Cheers & 73

I can get deals from my AD that will make an e-bay seller bow his head in shame!!

Let's see:

NIB
Y series GMT-II 20%+ off list
GP ww.tc 53% off list
JLC Master Geographic 49% off list.

Preowned:
1983 TT DJ 71% off appraised value
1991 TT DJ 61% off appraised value
1986 YG DD 62% off appraised value

Let's see an AD beat that.

Philwatch is indeed a rather prominent figure on the ebay...from what I have seen and researched, he seems to be for real.

For a grey dealer he is very good. I had a problem with the watch I bought from him. He really had no one to properly repair it (very common with grey dealers) but he did offer me a full refund and this was after three months. The problem with the watch was a fluke and not his fault.

He sent me some money toward a Rolex service.

Since then I have run into several people that recommend him and have bought from him. =) maverick

I have dealt with them 3 times and wow, what service! My first watch had a problem, so I traded it in for another. I kept it for about a year and traded it in for my GMT. They gave me the exact amount I paid for it, in trade. Not too bad.

NIB does not always mean "new in box"...an AD is

selling you a new watch...(relatively) fresh from the factory and with a factory warranty that will be honored by the factory.

An aftermarket or gray market or non-AD who is selling you a NIB is selling you a watch that might have been a store demo model, might be a return from a customer and it is "just like new" and has all the boxes and papers, might be old stock bought from an AD going out of business and yes the watch is NIB...but...as far as Rolex is concerned all these watches are used watches, and you are not buying it from an AD and so Rolex is not required to honor the factory warranty papers that come with it.

I once bought a NIB GP from a gray market dealer and the papers were not the original ones that came with the watch...the serial numbers didn't match. In my lust for the watch, I didn't think or take the time to compare.

There are many excellent gray market dealers with outstanding reputations and excellent customer histories....and there are probably many ADs who suck.

The rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. Buy a new watch from an AD and you get a factory warranty good anywhere in the world. Buy a "new" watch from the best gray market seller in the world and you get a watch that might have an excellent "in store warranty" but in all probability will be considered a used watch and not under warranty, by Rolex.

I have never heard anything bad about Phil Watch...but never expect perfection from a human being...or anything the make.
