Daytona Zenith movement VS In house movement???

Hi, My name is John. I am very new to Rolex and have very limited knowledge.
I am interested in purchasing a Daytona ss, but not so sure which is more preferable among collectors. Zenith or in house movement? Just in case I would like to resale it in the future, which will hold resale value.

I understand that the Zenith has been discontinued and I can only purchase pre-owned, where as the In house version, I have the option to purchase new or a pre-owned.

There are some really good deals on older Daytona (10-12 years old) but in mint condition. is there anything to worry bout buying old VS newer models???

Your inputs are great greatly appreciated. John, from San Jose California.

Buy the seller and you don't have to worry-do your homework and it is easy enough to find out.

Well would doubt if you will get real good deals on any S.Steel Zenith Daytona as they are commanding quite a higher price difference than the in-house Daytona.IMHO the Zenith Daytona will always command a higher price than its in-house brother. The Zenith movement is a excellent chronograph movement its as accurate as the in-house but does not have the same power reserve but 48hours is plenty. And any movement in any Rolex watch if serviced properly will in many cases out last its owner. Its funny some of the most collectible Rolex watches today don't even have a Rolex movement in the case with Daytona watches but ones from Zenith and ETA Valjoux.

Welcome John...

The Daytona is a world icon for the Rolex line and so almost any model will command a decent bit of pocket change..

The Zenith (Rolex 4030) movement was used for a decade and so there are a lot of them out there. Good deals can be found on the TT models as they are never as popular as the SS version..

The in-house (Rolex 4130) movement has been used since 2000 and so there are plenty of those around too. This movement is arguably one of the best modern engineered Chronograph movements around. Perhaps the future will hold it in very high regard.... and high prices too match..

Since neither of these Daytona versions is more than 20 years old, they are not on the screen of serious "collectors", only speculators; so don't believe everything you read about which one has the most future potential.....

Daytonas are not flipped nearly as much as other models..People tend to hang on to them... expect to pay a fair, but high, price. You will likely get your money back from either version if you needed to in a few years..
