Should Rolex expand their brand? Or at least revamp Cellinis?
Ok, We all know our Oysters are great, great timepieces, And those Cellinis are nice but deffinately not as popular. Bottom line with the Oyster line, Rolex is focusing on the "sporty" crowd. The fanciest Oyster you can find is a DD President, Its an excellent watch, But when it comes down to it it is a simple design that has been perfected over and over again.
Potential customers (I feel) when looking at a 20k+ watch, They want something a bit different with some complications, Nice leather bands and a very classy, expensive look all at once (Such as Patek does with their Complicated collection) So maybe Rolex can reach a higher level (even though they are way up there) by leaving the Oyster line alone as is and try get a ball rolling with their classier watches to attract those who want something different than the usual Oyster Rolex. I am not trying to bash Rolex in any way, I feel they are doing an unbelievable job, But maybe the more upscale models should have features that the ultimate luxury watch buyer wants. (Instead of wasting time on zebras and leopards of course) I probably would never even look at Cellinis and Im sure alot of people feel this way, But what if they had models that can compare to current Pateks, VCs etc etc |

Rolex seems inclined to bring back older models that they had stopped producing. The Prince and Milgauss are two examples. I pray for the day they re-introduce their complicated chrongraphs of the 40's and 50's but I'm not holding my breath.
Everything now seems very blinged out and very expensive, save for the new SS GMTII. |
