My new Rolex

Hello everyone.

I have a Rolex Oysterdate Precision with a manual wind.

Normally I wind the watch everyday, till the crown starts resisting to turn any further, I have never forced it beyond that point.

I forgot to wind the Rolex yesterday which resulted in the watch stopping today.

Now my problem: as it was totally unwound, I was able to start winding it very very smoothly and easily. I wound further, but the watch didn't give any resistance as it normally would(even after a lot of turns). The watch keeps time perfectly after some winding, that is not the problem. I am just afraid that something is wrong with the 'stop-mechanism'.

I do feel that there is resistance, but it is of some other kind: I can feel that the crown hits back but have to push further very gently for it to wind more, much less of a resistance.

Is this normal when winding up a totally unwound Rolex?
Could someone tell me about his experiences with this?
If the watch ticks, is it then possible that the winding-mechanism is broken??

Thank you very very much
Elliot

You simply can't overwind a Rolex. That's the Beauty of the whole thing.

Typically it takes only 40 - 50 turns and you'll have wound it completely, but don't worry if you lose track you won't break it.

By the way your wrist is the best winder, wear it and you wont have to manually wind it anymore.

No, his is a manual wind, not a Perpetual (automatic).

It needs to be wound every day.

My fault, missed that. Thank you Sir.

Sorry for giving the wrong information, someone should be along shortly who can ask your question.

There maybe a chance some who could help are not looking at your thread because it says "My new Rolex".

Elliot, it might have been better to use a different title for your thread.

"Need help manual wind issue"

Just a suggestion. Sorry again for misunderstanding and not being able to help.

Good point.

I had the same watch years ago but I simply cannot remember it's winding characteristics.

What I do remember is hating having to wind it every day so I upgraded to my DJ.

Perpetual rules!
