extra Dial for new Daytona?
I bought a New SS daytona and am contemplating picking up a white dial for sometime down the road when I get the urge to see my SS Daytona in white...Is it a smart idea to pick up an extra dial for later, if the price is right???
thanks, pete |

I see many posts from members who change dials from blk to white and vice versa...never read a thing about hand colors.. No I would not intend to sell it..but if I did I could include the old dial or have it changed back...right? thanks, pete |

Do as you please, it's your watch.
No, of course it won't affect the value. |

Hi, everyone. my first post.
I'd like to have a daytona white dial with black subdials. (much beautiful!) the only model on the market is the zenith but it's second hand..discountinued, etc.. So i was wondering if i get a brand new daytona 116520, the idea is to buy then a white dial with black subdial and replace it. would i be able to replace it easily with a zenith white dial despite the fact the daytona is a 116520? what about the hands? etc... do u think it's good idea? and if yes, where should i give it to replace it? Also is it safe to do this regarding time precision, mecanism, etc... once replaced with a new dial? Does rolex offers this service? (i guess no, they better sell new watches with new dial color at expensive price then simply replace it with a 50$ dial..i guess) Thanks for answering, it will help me make my decision 116520 black (i dont like the grey subdials with the white dials) Vs 16520 zenith white dial. regards |

Note the relocation of the two upper subdials on the 116520, centers are now above the centerline of the main dial. This, at minimum, would prevent the dials from interchanging. |

The Zenith dial will not work with the in-house dialled Rolex. On Zenith sub seconds at 9 O'Clock, on the in-house movements sub seconds at 6 O'Clock. And a Zenith or in-house dial will be quite a bit more expensive that $50.

CashGap and padi56, thank you for having answered my question.
since i want a brand new daytona 116520, is it possible to get a white dial with 'black' subdials for 116520? and do u think it's risky to replace the original one? if so, i'd rather keep the black dial.. thanks for your advice |

And it should be easy to swap for an "experienced" watchmaker... And I am sure it would be not easy for a regular owner...

As far as buying an dial at a "good price", I don't know what you think a good price is, but Daytona dials are expensive. If you see one cheap, I'd get it. Seems to me, that I see these things listed for $1,500+.
I like the idea of having both black and white dials. It's a simple swap for a watch tech, and has no affect on resale (IMO), if you keep both dials. |

1500 is still cheaper than buying another daytona just for the sake of another dial color .. :)
Actually, i have in mind to get a brand new black dial daytona 116520 and buy a white dial with 'black' subdials (if possible). It will look like a zenith 16520 white dial. By the way, those dials in the grey market, are they the same one used by rolex? or just some cheap dials...? |
