I use Windows every day at work. It's no contest for me; Mac all the way!

I used to spend hours on end every weekend (or so it seemed) "learning" about Windows, which was a euphemism for endless troubleshooting of endless problems. Now, I spend my free time enjoying my computer. The only way I'll go back to Windows is if Apple ceases to produce computers. Windows is one big user unfriendly albatross; proof perfect that trying to have a one size fits all operating system is a big mistake. It's a maze within a maze within a maze; fun maybe for binary puzzle solvers; but frustrating for the average user. That's my opinion, and as you can see, I have no strong feelings about it!

If you want use PC to surf the web, listen to music, see pictures, change pictures or art, write beautiful documents, do messaging with no hustle and trouble, then Mac is the answer. If you rather need a PC to do excel complex stuff and run it as a web client with a solid application that uses java and the like or run an accounting software on it, then a windows PC is best suited.

But bear in mind, Mac are much more powerful than a windows PC, much more stable, no viruses, crashes, reboot, etc but the strength of PC is the compatibility of applications together and platforms and this is how Bill Gates become a very rich guy...

Who lied to you?? Apple hardware is excellent, probably the best design you can get, but they ruin it with terrible, illogical software. Thankfully you can now run wondows on most modern macs. In terms of software developement, they are in the stone ages when compared to microsoft.

From what I can tell, most mac users are either die hard fans that have not/will not try anything else or "new" victims of apple's marketing. They are SOOOO good at selling crap to the unknowing public it's not funny. Thankfully, they are not so popular here in the UK... But they are on the up..

Every now and again I have to help customers with IT problems and I cringe when I hear "mac" but even the most trivial things like helping my sister with her ipod software are enough to get you pulling you hair out. So many loops just to get your songs loaded up. The other "normal" MP3 players out there work right out of the box, as easy as drag and drop, no software required, almost idiot proof. I feel so sorry for all the suckers out there that bought an iPod (sister included) based on the marketing hype. These days, they're even considered a status symbol... When i think of it like this I'm reminded of my wife slipping into her most uncomfortable shoes just because they look great.

Wrong, wrong, wrong....

What are these "software boxes" of which you speak, I seem to recall seeing them back in the 90's? I actually can't remember the last time I took delivery of software on physical media. Select it, click, pay for it, download it and it is installed.

My situation is that I can't afford to go back to a PC. What with Mac's being cheaper (when comparably equipped), having an actual resale value rather than dumpster value after a few years, and the time saved daily not fighting the OS, I'm just too cheap to go back to Windows.

You're right about the software, but someone lied to you too about the crashing and viruses. Mac get them too and they have some REALLY silly "features" that if unchecked, will ensure you lose ALL your data when it does happen.

IMO, the whole macOS IS a virus... for example, if you remove a mac mail email account in an attempt to fix a problem, it also removes ALL email and related data in a way that can NEVER be recovered. All with one click andno warning. Not a problem if you have a backup, but that is a few hours I would rather use for something else thanks.

Also, mac performance is on par with PC. The mythical fast mac was back in the days when all macs had very high end vga cards and lots of memory. The thing people didnt realise is that you can also get the same for your PC. Again, lots of marketing hype...

Unfortunately, I do agree with this. Microsoft is also good with marketing and 7 is not as much of an improvement as they make it out to be. Having said that, it is leaps and bounds better than Vista which was appauling.

As far as I can tell, 7 is what Vista should have been right from the start...

Mac 'Lifestyle', 'Fashion Statements', these are pretty insulting comments when just talking about a bloody computer????? People need to examine their feelings of apparent resentment and be a little more polite. I use both Mac and PC.
Being judgemental relative to the posts above one might conclude that more PC owners are rude. Could this be a result of feeling more frustrated but macho, having to deal with the constant viral attacks and crashes?

I use both extensively, and can say with certainty that I like Macs better.
