installation of the steel bracelet and full servicing of the watch movement are two seperate items. clarify it with the service center. does not make sense at all.

seems strange they would even check the movement if it was only there for a bracelet.

it's nothing new. i wanted to buy a spare set of quick change strap pins for my 243. they asked for my 243 watch so that they can install the pins (i was thinking for what??? i just only needed a spare set of pins). after much discussion they told me i could get a new set of pins but i have to return the old set of pins. feeling fustrated, i did not get the pins.

they did an assessment of the watch while it was there for a bracelet which is pretty normal of them.. they want to get $$ out of you while the watch is there.. you could have declined the service and stuck with just the bracelet change.
but i have to agree with you. i love the brand but do not like the service as repair times take forever and to be honest, i have had damage from them after my watch came back from service on more than one occasion. this must explain why they require to send any high dollar panerai back to Switzerland for repair. that must be where the pro watch repair center is. but for that service they told me 6 months min wait time. |

That's nonsense. Call Alex, the manager of the Panerai store in NYC. (212)223-1562- I've had him ship straps, buckles, etc. to me all the time. also, I don't recall the service on my 104 being that high, and that was earlier this year.

How much did it cost you for servicing your 104?

to be fair to Panerai,Rolex have the same system, they don't lilke spare or used parts getting on the market, which is all good for us, as it helps cut down the fakes out there.

i was quoted service at 550.00, bracelet 1300.00 and 65 .00 to fit to watch.i had the watch 2 years and 3 months and the ad was great honoring the warranty.though i still dont know why it would need a service.

try getting your AD to ask the service centre why the need for the service,I agree under 3 years does seem too short,I thought 5 atleast.

I got my 233J serviced this year. It took about 5 months! I was also charged about $600 or $700 for the power reserve dial replacement! This was a factory defect and I had to pay! I was not happy to say the least...The Panerai service dept is not fun to deal with. My watch did come back as good as new. I just didn’t think I should have had to pay for what was clearly a manufacturers error.

How often should a Panerai be serviced if it sits in a drawer? A nice sales lady at B. Hills Panerai suggested it might not be necessary at all.

I would still move the watch once in a while, for lubricant oils' sake. I agree that you might not need a service for a long time. |

It is a business and nothing personal. You can always turn down the suggestion of additional service. It is just like taking your car in for an oil change and the mechanic tries to sell you a new air filter.
