I hear you clearly. I do not consider your comments Rolex bashing in any way. Why would I? Your ownership expectations of Rolex were not met and you are moving on. I embrace your decision and your candidness is respected.

I haven't had any problems with any of mine. Either I just didn't look at them hard enough, or there just simply aren't any problems.

Oh wait a minute some of the crowns don't align when screwed down. Boy am I peaved. Man I need to talk to somebody about this. LOL

I have noted a number of flaws in new Rolex watches since I have taken a fonder interest in Rolex and buying them. I have had dust removed from under the crystal of a new GMTIIC and an uneven dial replaced on a new Sub. I have also walked away from a transaction on new Sub as a result of what looked like a fine hair sticking out of the lume of an hour marker.

It is worth emphasising that Rolex's responses to these quality issues have been outstanding!! Immediate priority fixing - no debating the issue and even a call from the workshop manager to give me comfort. I compare this to another higher priced brand where I was told that the dirt would not be removed under warranty from under the crystal

I must also admit that I have not seen the same numbr of obvious quality issues in other watch brands that I regularly ogle/buy.

Hence I think the answer to the quality question must be "relative to what?"

One thing stands out though - the quality of Rolex service is superb and way better than any I have experienced with other brands.

Have a great day all

I agree. Through all of my QC misfortunes - service to resolve from my AD and Rolex Canada have been superb - no question.

Unfortunately I do think one needs to examine a Rolex closely before purchase as cosmetic flaws do exist. In terms of function I do believe Rolex approaches perfection. In terms of form, not quite there. I think that's inherently the nature of any mass produced item. And yes, mine also came with a noticeable cosmetic flaw which I live with because at the end of the day it works perfectly. For some this would be unacceptable, for me it's just one of those things I choose to live with. But to each their own!

Being a new Rolex owner I can’t speak to how quality has changed, but my impression of the quality of new watches is very high.

However if you had asked two days ago I would have had a different answer.
My first Rolex was flawless and I am extremely happy with it. My second watch had, what I thought to be, a small chip in the bezel insert recess. I was not only disappointed that my particular watch had a flaw, but my impression of Rolex quality was slightly diminished.

I took it to the RSC and the ‘chip’ turned out to be the residue of some cleaning agent. They returned a flawless watch back to me in ten minutes. My faith in their quality was restored, not just because there was no actual defect, but also because of the high level of service I received and the obvious pride they had in their watches.

I'm not bashing Rolex, Im simply putting my point of view accross. Is this forum for positive comments only?? If so I'll get my coat.

I thought this forum was a source of information for Rolex owners, for people to share their experiences, good and bad.

P.S. I have posted lots of positive comments about my watch and others in fact I love my Submariner and miss not having it on my wrist. What annoys me is I paid £3380 for a watch that has spent 4 months back with the manufacturer in during the first year of owning it.

People seem to think that its ok for a Rolex to have a flaw simpy because its a Rolex! I dont understand that at all.
