Amen. Not sure if this is a sign of the times or what but this $*it has to stop. How does killing a 9 yr old prove a point or advance a cause?

It's terrible, nothing else can be said, except that prayers go out to the families affected.

horrible news.

The news said the gunman, a 22 year old nut case, was obsessed with "mind control and the government."

I wonder if he though of the preferred method of capital punishment in Arizona before he decided to commit himself to the deepest depths of hell for an eternity! Senseless killing of a 9 year old!?! May he rot!

Some folks did grab him, and at least one was prepared based on the reports.

But you know... I don't know how long it would take my mind to process what I was seeing and hearing in order to react. This isn't a "scenario"... "Bad guy is going to approach from your right, what do you do... GO!".

It's real life... standing there, wondering if you have time to go to Starbucks before the movie after this... a day like any other... then ACTION.

I don't walk around in condition white, the Colonel taught us all better than that. I trust my skills and my motivation, but I do wonder about my reaction time to integrate the information and realize that the time is NOW.

Prayers for the victims and families.

He's just another loser with an inability to to deal with his inconsequence in life and somehow rationalized that killing others would change that. The guys that took him down probably foiled his delusional self-aggrandizing plans to ultimately kill himself and the sooner we forget this coward the better. The victims unfortunately have had a life sentence imposed upon them by this cretin.

Unfortunately, there are many evil and/or insane people who walk the earth. Just a few days ago my husband was in Dallas for business, and visited the Book Repository where Oswald fired the shots that murdered President Kennedy. That remains a stark reminder that it just takes only one pathetic loser to cause such a vast amount of damage.

My prayers go to the victims and their families.

We have to somehow reconcile ourselves with this horrible sort of situation.

There are 6 billion people on earth and such is this number that a murder occurs every minute of the day, every day. Some of those are crimes of the heart, some are cold blooded, some touch on the unspeakable.

The vast majority of us are empathetic and caring. If it were not the case we'd not have survived this far.

We will NEVER fully understand the mind of a socio path, psychopath or narrow minded demented idealist because we'd be comparing their "values" to ours.

Tim,
I deal with these type of EVERY day. Their not wired right. That's the best I can describe it to you. Black wire to red wire, the blue fused with the white ect. Sometimes there is a window of opportunity to reach them somewhere in the five minute range then,....they fade away. You can SEE them fade away looking into their eyes. It's weeird. Scary too.

But what I liked to hear against all odds two senior citizens ("grandpa&grandma") helped stop the tragedy from becoming worse. People can do amazing things. My hearts to the families, and my deepest gratitude to those who stopped it from becoming much worse.

I'm a combat veteran...I don't like to admit it,much less talk about having taken the lives of enemies that were out there to take mine. To me, that was grievous and very difficult. God, I just can't imagine how a person could shoot innocent, unarmed people...especially a little girl. I just can't go there, I will never understand it.
