Location of Serial No on DJ V Series

Hi guys. I'm a newbie here so please go easy.

I'm looking at purchasing a DJ V series serial number from a co-worker and working through my check list of authenticity questions.

From lurking through multiple threads here in the forum I've learned that Rolex engraves the serial number on the lug of the watch, behind the bracelet, at the 6 o'clock position. I assumed that this is the case for all genuine Rolexes in existence.

When looking over the DJ V series in question, the serial number appears in the rehaut, but not on the lug. In fact, when I removed the bracelet, the word "Stainless" was engraved in the body of the watch and the bracelet had a code of "LT 7220". I was completely shocked and convinced it was a fake.

Later in the day I found some threads that mention that the location of the serial number was a manufacturing change (from lug to rehaut), but the thread was discussing Subs, not DJ.

Can anyone confirm that it is indeed normal to find the serial number on the rehaut, but not the lug on a DJ V series?
