Daytona-SS or TT?

I own a SS GMT II and want to acquire a Daytona but having hard time deciding which model to go with. I have ruled out the WG as it looks too similar to the SS to spend the extra dollars on. I like the SS but don't want to have two very similar looking pieces. What do you all think?

I own a the SS version. To me the TT looks much nicer and there are more dial choices. I know a guy who sold his SS version to get the TT, he is happy that he did and the dial is easier to read.

If you're a fan of the TT variant, I'd go that route since you can usually find them for the same price or cheaper than the SS version.

I agree with Art. The TT Daytona looks extremely nice especially with so many different dial options. The TT is a real stunner.

I have a TT GMT IIc and a SS Black dial daytona as well. I had the same issue and decided I liked the look of the TT on the GMt. Even if you deide to get a SS daytona, then a white dial will complement your GMT...A black dial SS Daytona wont look like your GMT because its a totally different watch, the hands are different, the bezel as well. the bracelet is similar though.

Thanks. This is helpful as I will now look at the different dial choices and see what I like best.

Well the SS will hold its value dramatically better but IMO the dial variations on the TT make that the one to have I personally LOVE the Panda Dial on the TT and Full Gold models... there is one in the FS section right now with a HUGE discount from one of TRF's best

A TT Daytona would complement your SS GMT very nicely.

If you have fair skin, get the SS, if you have any of the following:

A tan
Grey hair
No hair
Gold chains
A hairy chest
Your trousers worn at Simon Cowell height

then TT looks cool.

Ironically, even though they're pretty easy to get hold of, I would describe the TT models as 'rarer' than the SS models - you certainly see far fewer of them in the wild. Chuck in some of the most attractive dials Rolex makes today, and you have a very, very tempting prospect.

I agree, I see the SS version often, more than the TT.

Just never been a fan of TT watches pretty much across the board.
The only one I own is my TT Oysterquartz with Champagne dial as its the perfect
example of an OQ, that dial and TT was soooo 70's/80's I thought it was perfect
but I am going to have to sell it very soon as I am buying a semi grail piece and
what I do not wear or truly love must go now.

I do agree there are some very nice dial options with the TT though.
Why not contact a gray dealer with European connections that may be able to
source you a Gold model or TT model dial and have it installed on a SS for you?
Contact TempoKing, I bet he can find whatever you want!

I think they are both great choices. I prefer the SS version right now, bec I just dont like gold on my watch yet. As previously discussed before, if you like the 2 tone look, TT daytona are hard to beat... esp with so many dial choices.
One day when I start liking gold watch, I am sure I will get a TT daytona or a blusey.

Everyone or most are into SS models at the moment, being trendy and in vogue.I have always liked the TT models myself, and people years ago bought the SS models because they were the cheap option.

i'll take the other side and suggest SS. Classic, timeless, wonderful... As for having another SS watch, the GMT II is different enough from the Daytona that each should feel unique to you.

I'd agree with this also....I think the white dial SS will make a fantastic partner to your GMT...

I think the TT options are brilliant in the Daytona...but I feel that the watch itself is served best by the simplicity of the SS dial and finish. The TT gold in a Daytona can tend to overburden the watch on the wrist IMO...

Having said that...the Rose Gold Daytona is out of the world.....and on my wish list
