Any IWC Aquatimer owners here?

I am really liking that SS model on rubber strap these days.

i badly want one also

Dear Sir

This is one of my favourite dive watches.

I saw it displayed at my AD in New Zealand, Watches of Switzerland. They had the 1000m and 2000m version. The 2000m version is titanium and yellow indicators. My heart skipped a beat as i thought it was the mystical Deep One but then on closer look and attention was informed its the new AT.

The salesperson let me handle the ss on black strap. absolutely gorgeous watch. Not too much of a discount as it was a relatively new model. However i have been doing my research on this and its worthwhile to note that a full rotation of the bezel rotating crown only moves the bezel by 5 minutes so its a pain if you wanted to move the bezel for long distance measurement.

The other cool thing which i have read at the IWC website is this AT features their pressure gage kinda like the Deep One in that after going under 30m of water the bezel 'locks down' by feeling the water pressure (sorry im no techie)

There is a debate as to whether WIS like us prefer the older AT or this newer one. The sympathy i have for old AT owners is that this is quite a drastic change in model. this is not a mere better bracelet or adding SEL or crownguard. I know that if i had purchased the AT last year (it is expensive) and then this year that AT was basically phased out for a model with the same name that looked radically different i would be a bit upset. This new AT does really stand out, it caught my eye among many fine watches at my AD straightaway.

i myself prefer the ss on bracelet. however the salesperson infomred me that the bracelet verson is much more expensive (as is the case with IWC, JLC ect).

cheers
don

Roger, I love these watches, it was between this and the Panerai, but the Panerai won out. Then I got a second Panerai but that one is still on my radar though.

I had never really liked the new Aquatimer in pics. I liked the older one. Then I actually saw, and played with the chrono version at a TZ lunch, and WOW it was nice

BTW, I was at the bookstore yesterday and the new Watch Time has a Seadweller vs Aquatimer test article. The dweller won by a thin margin!

Not the most scientific of tests.

It is such a beautiful and simple watch. I am normally a bracelet fan, but that rubber strap is executed extremely well with this watch.

Hey Roger, a Panerai 112 comes with a leather strap and a Rubber dive band.

LOL

Seriously, I would have to get an Aquatimer on the bracelet. IWC makes some of the best around!

I agree, that "beads of rice" style one on the 3706 and UTCs is amazing.

The AT is a beautiful watch. If I was in the market for a dive tool watch, that would be high on my list to consider. If I were to get it, I'd get both the rubber strap and the bracelet.

Both are nice, but IMHO the crowns do look just a wee bit too large and slightly over-sized!!

As opposed to the crown being too tiny, like on some watches.
