Icon6 If I keep my 1680, do you think...

it will be truly collectible when I'm old and gray? Will I be able to pass it on as a seriously true collectible? I know it's collectible by today's standards but will it rival, say for example a vintage Paul Newman?

The population increasing, the number of vintage examples in existence decreasing, the purchasing power and demand for luxury goods in new markets appearing, I get the feeling anything plastic only has one direction. I'm never parting with mine, if anything I'll add a red to it at some point.

If the 14060 dies, and the Sub-date becomes the only sub, the 1680 will always be the original of its breed.

Keep it! It'll only become more collectible, rarer over time. And forget about value for a second, these old 1680s are simply gorgeous and super cool. Here's mine I just picked up. Love the patina and silver/metallic date wheel.

One of the most beautiful watches of all time. It's sure to increase in value but I doubt it will catch up with the Newman.

Spot on. Certainly not rare by Newman or Mil. Sub standards, the 1680 never the less offers such a rare and beautifull look. A must for any collector.

Here goes mine.A 5513 /0 SN 8 mil. Jocke would make a better photo I trust

And the other cool thing, unlike the Daytonas, as long as there are shagged out DateJusts for us to cannibalize, we're never going to run out of spare parts.

Such a great watch - I would keep it, irrespective of what the market does

If the market value rockets, it would be a bonus!

It already is 'truely collectible'.

It just isn't a Daytona, that's all.

Still it is a sensational vintage Rolex that can only become more and more appreciated as time goes by. No more of those being made today. Its 30 years old today and it has appreciated, so that is a pretty good indication of how it bodes for the future, without having a crystal ball.

Thanks guys, I have fought the urge to sell it a few times so I think it's safe, well unless my daughter needs a new horse and then I might consider it but for now I'll just wear it and enjoy. This is probably the longest I have kept a Sub without flipping it so that may just be a good sign.
