Best Chronograph: Speedmaster v. SMP (non-Bond w Sword Hands)

Looking next for a 3 dial chronograph to round out my collection.

Lots of Speedmaster info on TRF and is seems like a very good choice. I have tried it on and like the fit and feel.

I do like the look of the old style SMP though (I have the 2254.50 and love it).

Any advice on the better choice (with reasons) would be appreciated.

Also, if you have an alternative chronograph to suggest (it doesn't have to be an Omega) then please do. Pictures would help if possible.

I already know about the Daytona (and like it) but it is more than I want to pay right now so I am looking at the under $5K watches.

Many thanks.

Both are excellent choices. I guess it would depend on what you're using it for. If it's going to be a daily wearer, the seamaster might be the better choice since it's auto and much more resistant to water. For history and classic style, you can't beat the Speedy. I've been wearing mine every day since purchase with no regrets.

I really love my SMP chronograph, never owned a Speedmaster. I don't have much input on the subject other than to say that this is my second favorite watch next to my Sub C which gets the majority of wrist time. Good luck with your hunt / decision!

Great pics Chad! By far my favorite variant of the SMP chrono.

Thanks for the input. Beautiful watch Chad. I had not seen it with the gold bezel before.

Can't go wrong with either one of them.

Both reliable movements.

Speedy might have the edge on reliability, the 33x3 had issues in the past, particularly in that watch, the Speedy has no issues. Speedy is easier to sell due to perpetual demand for them worldwide, the Seamaster was only ever made in very small numbers to fill a gap until the POC came out.
