Better is subjective.....

The new one is a standardized clasp used on the GMT II, and other models.. The original Daytona clasp is a classic with world class lines and design (think '63 XKE Jag) and I think that it is destined for the collector box..........

I agreed too. Old classic clasp will one day be more collectible.

I can't compare as I have never had experience of the older one but the new one is great, sits well on the wrist and balances well with the Daytona in terms of size. From what i have heard (and can see in pictures), the main improvement is the thickness of the foldover part inside which should make it a little stonger.

I think it is an excellent clasp but it is sad to see that the Daytona no longer has its "own" clasp anymore.

I tried them both and the new one is more stable and centered on your wrist.

I looked in to it myself, but being kind of a traditionalist (is that a real word? ) I wanted to keep my watch as it was purchased, and honestly, didn't think the new clasp was worth the 800 dollar price to upgrade.

I wish the Daytona clasp had that "bank door" feel of the new GMTc

I have owned both and find the older style with the button and hole to sit flatter and be more comfortable on my wrist. Also, there far more welded parts on the new clasps and reports of failures on the GMT, which uses the same standard clasp as the new Daytona clasp. If I had a choice I prefer the older style.

X2

I have both styles of clasps on various watches, and for some reason they all work for me.
