This write up bothers me

For some reason this write up rubs me the wrong way. Anyone else agree? It seems a bit biased and arrogant.

I agree, the writer's perspective is arrogant, condescending. Besides that, he offers no technical information about the watch. Attempted puff story which went bad.

It looks very similar to the one worn by Felipe Massa, except it's also a chronograph.

I can't tell if Watson's a chrono or not.

Anyway, there are plenty of people who think I'm crazy for owning two Rolex watches.

If Watson is happy with his Richard Mille and he's got the bucks to pay for it, why shouldn't he have it.

Golf's a lot harder sport than a lot of people give it credit for and it takes a lot of time and dedication to hone one's skills to that level.

We all know it ain't about telling time, don't we?

According to this article, Massa's is only worth $60,000 to $80,000.

Don't feel bad. Everyone's idiosyncrasies seem crazy to others.

In fact, it is some time difficult to distinguish the insane from the merely idiosyncratic.

Not for me but everyone has their own taste! I don't pay attention to the writter of the article. Besides, now that I am a Rolex owner I am too poor to pay attention.

I agree, it's a pretty poorly written article. But, I don't think it's snobbish, rather that it's writer is showing his ignorance.

Richard Mille also made one for Rafa Nadal, but it's a sponsorship. If Mille made a model for the golfer, then I would think that it's a sponsored watch as well. Personally, I like Mille's watches: http://www.prestigetime.com/items.php?brand=93

And look at his last statement: "If not, you can just look at how pretty it is, and understand that Bubba's golfing watch is worth more than anything you will ever own. Perspective! "

What an idiot.

If he can afford it, and he likes the design, good for him! It's certainly a watch of the finest quality.

I love Rafa's RM.

EDIT: While this particular RM doesn't have much appeal to me, I certainly understand why people like it.

I feel bad that a good watch from a good maker has been given such a negative vibe by a bad writer...why was cost so repetetively mentioned and Mr. Bubba's tastes so flaunted when all he is doing is sporting a watch he is paid to wear surprises me!

this is the RM Bubba Watson limited edition RM038...and its a good watch if you ask me :)

Well, from what I remember looking back in history. It's most likely he got this for FREE, as a promo, with an agreement to state the little white lie that it was purchase.

As you can see, it always seems to work in the free advertisement it brings, so who is the real sucker here?

Which then causes a flurry of other RICH members of society to think, "Well this famouse person BOUGHT one, so it can't be that bad! And now we have to keep up with the Joneses."

This is not some tacky watch with a bunch of diamonds glued on to drive up the price. RM is a serious watchmaker developing serious designs at the forefront of haute horlogerie. Even if you don't personally like this watch (I prefer the one they made recently for Nadal), all of us who love fine watches should be glad that the people who can afford it are supporting this kind of high-end watchmaking. This is what keeps the art vibrant.

, even though the article will rub most the wrong way, Richard Mille is still a great company with great watches.

I have respect for RM and his designs. From what I've read they are very comfortable and a PITA to read

Oh, and it's not like Bubba spent any money for that watch. He's SPONSORED.

If you really want to see what a dumb high-dollar watch looks like, check out the Romaine Jerome Day/Night Double Tourbillon:

No hands ... all it tells you is whether it's day or night, depending on which tourbillon is spinning. And it's really ugly too (IMO). List price $300,000.

I had a chance to try a couple of these watches on while in Vegas. The most expensive one was over $660,000. I put it on so I could say I once wore a $660,000 watch.

I would much rather wear a Rolex. I don't really care for the style.
