For what it's worth, Rolex lists the power reserve as "72-hour Power reserve (66 hours if the stopwatch is in use)". Clearly they see the stopwatch in continual use as a possibility.

I tend to leave it running all the time. I love to see the seconds hand sweep.
As long as its serviced regularly I dont see why it should wear out quicker.
Its a Rolex after all and its going to outlive me by a long way !!

Definitely use it regularly during the season - timing enduro's, minimum pit-stop times, post-race impound periods, 5-minute warnings and post-race protest period.

AFAIK, it is not intended for continuous use. Once after a race I forgot to push the stop button and the next day it had lost more than 2 minutes. Of course I don't know if the power reserve had been fully wound - but running for 24 hours straight (while off my wrist) appeared to have some impact on chrono accuracy.

Interesting that you've experienced problems with timing. I run both of my Daytonas more or less continuously and have never had any problems outside COSC specs by doing so. As you say, maybe being near the end of power reserve could cause problems...
