I've been an Omega collector for many years and didn't even know that TRF existed. But in May of 2008, I came over here in my search for a watch to fill the GMT niche in my collection.

Lo and behold, I not only found a friendly, helpful group of members over on the Rolex Discussion Group but there was also a few interested in Omegas. So I began to hang out over here and tried to contribute as best I could.

Suddenly, I realized that I have gone from zero Rolex to three in as many years with a vintage 6050, a 16710 (M/3186), and a 16600 (also an M).

But it has also been interesting to see so many Rolexers have come to appreciate Omegas. New converts seem to pop up almost daily.

Psalm 133:1 comes to mind, and to paraphrase, "How good and pleasant it is for Omega and Rolex fans to live in harmony."

I started with Rolex, and will have a few in years to come. Currently wearing a PO, and have my eye on a Speedmaster. When I came here, Omega wasn't even on my radar.

Great post Fr. John. Total agree.

It happens in my household.

I didn't really get into the whole WIS thing until mid 2008 but my ex-girlfriend/now wife have always been an Omega girl. She almost influenced me to get an Omega but I got a 16610LV (my first Rolex) in the end.

Between mid 2008 and now, we have a total of 5 Omega watches (gifted my F-I-W an AT in 09) which I love dearly. Can't beat the value Omega watches provides.

In the last 12 months, I have brought my wife to the world of Rolex (it was a hard work though...). Now she wears a couple of my Rolex watches in rotation and I still enjoy wearing my Omega whenever I feel like it. Her TT ladies Seamaster AT has been sitting in the watchbox for a long time.

So - yes, I agree, both brands can live in harmony.

I had a SS DJ with a black stick dial for a long time, saved up a long time until I got my Zenith Daytona - but last year I picked up an old Omega Speedmaster Reduced and put on a leather drilled driving strap. Simply classic!!

Agreed - that they are great value for money! New and especially 2nd hand.

Currently saving up and working through (no particular order):
1. vinatge GMT
2. vintage sub/ds - oohh would love a red.
3. Speedmaster Reduced Marui Panda

Funnily, the Omega is rather elusive, and have only seen in Japan.
