It's your hard earned money, you have every right to buy, wear whatever you want. Don't give a toss what others think. Enjoy your Rolex, but I do agree with you about being more careful of getting mugged.

I am sorry that you feel you cannot wear your Rolex on a daily basis but can only pass on my thoughts. I have recently purchased a Daytona not for any other reason than this was the Rolex I liked the most. I wondered if I would wear it everyday or if I would have buyers remorse as this was no small amount of money for me to spend. I find myself more than happy with my purchase and wear it nearly everyday.Although I don't flash it about, I am also not ashamed. I worked hard for the money and I realise that times are hard for people but that is not my fault.

In short wear it, enjoy it but be wary and do not feel guilty. If others are envious then they have to live with that not you.

people sometimes spend a lot of money on things other people don't understand, be they guitars, shotguns, cameras, fountain pens... whatever. does a $300 remington work as well as a $150k holland & holland? maybe. for a gun collector, is it as interesting? no. can you play "michael row your boat ashore" on a $75 first act guitar? yes. will it sound as nice as on a $35k vintage martin? no. etc, etc

I agree 100%
Many of us have interests/hobbies that non-participants cannot fathom. The money I've spent on hunting trips and guns over the years (and will continue to) would make some people's head spin. They don't hunt, don't like/buy guns, and have never had an interest in that life. The same applies to the non-Rolex crowd. So be it. I've heard the "why would you spend that kind of money for a watch" phrase several times before. I guess the real answer is-because I want to, and I can! It's what interests me.
