Agree

It was my grail and very lucky I was able to pick one up last December.

Although it is not currently in my rotation ......... it is my daily wearer for work

Can't go wrong with the classy DD

This one has an Oyster bracelet, and the jazzy blue dial, just like this:

I'm still humming and harring. Thanks for all replies.

There's no way I'd ever wear a YG Rolex. Too much bling.

Sounds like you have to decide why you'd want this watch.
Is it because you like the president/gold bracelet or the watch itself.
Maybe ask yourself if you would you wear it on a leather strap.

BTW, on leather it would work as dress watch, like your vintage Omega,
but a bit larger, and IMHO hence more versatile for daily use as well.
Plus even a gold DD does not bling when on leather.

The more I think about this, the more I think you are right. It's a nice piece of gold, but I think it falls between several stools.

There are a few things a man should never leave this earth without experiencing, driving his home country's fastest car, in the US that would be a Corvette or Viper, having a suit bespoke for him at least one time in his life, & wearing a "president"... No matter WG, YG, or PT... you feel like a royal when you wear it... I have had a few DD's from time to time, they are special beyond explanation .... go for it!!!

But what you like...and buy with confidence. As long as what you buy is authentic, you can't go wrong. Get what you like and ignore the influence and opinion of others on this acquisition. There are as many who like it as those who would choose another.

Sorry, man! It seems from the last few posts that the pendulum has swung and there is much love for the DD!

The only person who can decide is you...

You've got some GREAT watches and seem to have one for most occasions but, if you feel the love for the "golden goose" you'd better just pull that trigger!

Yes, I am still slightly torn! I can see the appeal of the Day-Date, it is a nice object, but I think it would always be playing second fiddle to my PP, and for the same money (less, actually) I could get this:

http://www.watchesofdistinction.com/...el%20No%201675

and this:

I was comparing a DD with a PP 5146G. No contest, amigo. And in many ways, a vintage GMT plus a vintage Sub might be a little bit more interesting?

The above poster is the OP and the original question was should he buy the DD or something else, so seems relevant to me!

I can see both sides of this and it's actually made me analyse my prejudices, but I can see the appeal of the pepsi and the 5513...

For me too much of the mystique of the President is tied to the scrap value of the metal, whereas the sport models only have a value in the movement, asthetics and history.

Most folks have responded "Day-Date", so you have to get it now. It's a rule.

As stated numerous time on this, and other forums, buy what you l¡ke. Who cares what other people say or think. Go with what you desire.

I believe a Rolex Collection requires a Day Date.
