Yay! £1.30 a day! That would buy you a newspaper and, maybe, a chocolate bar!
Or it would buy you just under a litre of diesel!
I bough my watch when I had sufficient disposable income to afford it. I'm pleased that, should the worst happen it will have retained a much higher proportion of it's initial cost than a car/TV/laptop etc. However, I wear my watch all day every day and enjoy it!
A working Rolex will always have a reasonably high intrinsic value. Mine might lose £1.30 a day for a year or two rather than gain, but I couldn't care less! If I found myself penniless in some third world hell-hole my well worn Sub would still buy me a ticket home and that's a good enough "investment" for me!

So right back at ya!

I don't get it. It is like you can finally afford a Ferrari and parking it in a garage and never truly enjoying it.

To each their own.

If your happy that's all that matters.

However it makes me more happy when I wear my watches. Life is too short, live it the way you chose. That is as long as you don't hurt others.

Guys maybe it's just me but I think you're all perhaps being a tad harsh on the OP.

I don't think he meant that he bought it for the investment nor even that he thinks it's a good investment.....

I think he was just saying it had gone up in 'financial/replacement? value' was all.

OK. £1.30 per day is some serious money, and I wish I had investments that made as much, for an outlay of only £3000. To be frank, I'm jealous.

Don't know about locking one up in a safe. That's cruel. How do you think it feels?...Lifeless in the dark!? Maybe you should spend a few pence daily and put it on your wrist?

You can check it's value again in 12 months and see how many pence per day you've taken off it LOL

You're on form tonight, James! Did someone steal the jam from your doughnut? Careful you don't out-grump the Badger!

I like this post, one of the only ones I've seen where it seems like the guy actually has a pair.

I have to get my head around this... So basically you're saying you've put over three and a half grand away (since you haven't worn/enjoyed it) for an interest rate of £1.30 a day over three years? Not exactly something to bartmoon about, but..I commend you for proving that Rolexes can indeed increase in value. Erm, well done!

Fair play but you can't just say goodnight before you get mooned out of the forum. You must stay and take your mooning like a man!

Good for you mate if you can make over 1000GBP in a year on a watch great it's a hell of % more than the money would have made in the bank.

Sell sell and ignore the negative posts.......

Thank you for pointing this fact out....Some folk are STILL missing the point of this post...I never claimed that £1.30 is an amazing amount of profit Just merely showing that there are ways of purchasing a BRAND NEW ROLEX and not LOSING any of the outlay - But actually making on it...I have succeeded in this...Despite some who say it cannot be done...
Has anyone else out there on the forum recently bought a NEW Rolex and is ABLE to sell it at a profit???
I will never sell it as it has been my dream watch ever since getting my first Rolex catalog back in 1977....

... I'm guessing that the Sub in general has been your dream since 1977, being as the Kermit you are talking about wasn't introduced til 2003!

Sorry but I'd be wearing it..

Far more enjoyment having one on your wrist everyday as opposed to sitting in a box waiting for numbers to rise.

Just my opinion.
