lume fading on my hour hand (gmt iic)

i just noticed today that the lume has faded to the point where it is very noticable compared to the everything else on my watch.

does anyone know what would cause just the hour hand to fade and nothing else?

no should be standard SL lume - would say a bad batch of lume - at least it will be easy to fix warranty or not

Are you sure it actually faded? The lume on the hands of my IIc was practically invisible since I bought it new 2 years ago.

My experience has been that the GMT-IIc has been a buggy watch wver since it was released. I read so much about defective dials, problem bezels, lume that fades quickly and even problems with hand alignment. Just seems to be a thing with the new GMT...

yeah, its faded and doesn't hold the lume as bright as before. everything else on my dial's lume is normal and bright.

My lume is not that great either. It's a bit patchy in some areas and can be noticed to the naked eye. I still love her though!

i wouldn't worry if you plan on keeping it for the long term, since it will all fade eventually, right?

Not with Super-LumiNova... at least I've seen watches dating back to 1998 where SL took over after Tritium; the SL neither having degraded one bit nor it having patinated in colour like Tritium...

Now, it's hard to tell what causes the difference in lume intensity on the GMT IIc in question... my bet would be that in this case it's just a matter of the hour hand having a slightly thinner SL coating..

As said, if it bugs you, have it fixed (new hour hand) under warranty...

too it to my local watchmaker who said it looks like the hand is defective, and that i would need to send it in to the rsc for them to verify and replace.

at this point, i'm probably going to wait a while before getting this fixed to see if anything else fades, since the last thing i want to do is be out of a watch for 2 weeks, then have something else fade on me.
