2nd Rolex: 16610 "V" or 116610 Ceramic??
Here are my 2 choices. Difference in price is about $1,200 for me.
New 2010 Sub 16610 "V" or New 2010 Sub 116610 Ceramic I have been going back and forth on these 2 watches for the past 6 days. Wish I could get the TT Sub Ceramic though....haha. Any advice??? Which Sub will hold it's value more? |

Holding its value I'd say the Sub-C being that its more modern in many ways and will be in demand well into the future. There are just far too many 16610s, and given how the 16800/168000's have dropped in value, even though they were made in vastly fewer numbers, I doubt the outlook will be better for a watch made for over 20 years.

I really like the new Sub C but the old one is more classic... Just try them both on and one of them will speak to you.

Given your avatar, did you want another ceramic?
Go with the one that makes you smile. Good Luck! |

My preference is the Sub Ceramic. However that is akin to my bias, as I've fallen in love with the SubC, subsequently due to recent trips to the AD and the lust for a Sub since I be-rid myself of the old DLC 16610. My advice to you is to pick the one you shall enjoy best.

Thanks for the comments...I am starting to lean more (55% vs 45%) toward the subC, for the simple fact that it's has the latest upgrades. Just feel more solid when I tried both of them on. I know I already have the GMT II c but that Sub C is STUNNING. I am just looking to add onto my Rolex collection. I have the Rolex bug now
I have to say...this forum have played a huge part in me getting the Rolex bug !! :) My 3rd Rolex in 2yrs would be the Sub Green C |

I too would go for the 16610, the ceramic still has ALOT of room to come down IMO... The sub 16610 is a classic and will not be available new in the near future.
At the end of the day though get the one you like the best

The ceramic has a lot of room to go up as well (MSRP). Currently demand is high, supply is there not not massive, and MSRP is as low as its ever going to be. By the time demand drops for the ceramic and grey market prices begin to drop, the MSRP increases by Rolex will begin to offset that.

Besides settling on a name for my daughter, this is the 2nd toughest decision I have to make in the last 7 yrs. You do have a strong case...the 16610 is a classic and the "V" 2010 model is brand new and available. It's also $1200 less than the Sub C !! Who said time is not tough around here? |

Since the 16610 has been discontinued, it will appreciate in value more so compared with the current 116610.
Get the 16610.

i'd go for the 16610LV - as there is a slight chance of 116610LV having a longer production run... but who knows.
i must say i like them both, but if i had to pick one, i'd probably go with the 16610LV |

Dude, go the AD and try them on. You will see which one you will like. And that will be the ceramic. I can guarantee it. If you choose the older model..... well I don't know why you would hence the newer model has so many upgrades compared to the old.

How is this even a question, the Sub C all the way. The new Subs are in a completely different class than the old, get the new for sure.

I'd go for the 16610LV, then buy a black bezel insert. Hence, it's like having two different watches!
Happy hunting! |
