Watch insurance , Help needed uk
Hi Guys
I am struggling to get a additional Rolex insured for a reasonable ammount by our home insurer. They covered my new SUB C LV value £5050 for an additional £80 premium on the home insurance. I am now trying to add a 26mm Diamond Bezel DJ I have just bought my wife. Replacement value £5599 they are asking for an additional £221 per year. can anyone recommend a watch insurer who is competative ? |

Had a similar issue and searched for hours on the net trying to find someone competitive. My own experience was that standalone insurance (TH March for example) was expensive but it equated to the increase in the home insurance premium therefore all my watches are listed as separate items on that. I did consider a safety deposit box at the bank but didn't like the idea of not being able to change watches without a trip (and a fee)! I guess the insurance industry thinks/says if you can afford an expensive watch you can afford the insurance also.

Try M&S there cover is unlimited although they do ask if you have any collections worth over 4k(not sure what this will add to the overall cost) but they do cover away from home with no premium.

Do Hiscox insure single items or are they included on the home insurance?

I experienced exactly the same..... Nominal increase for first Rolex & the wifes jewellery but another £200-odd for the second Rolex. I think it's to do with the fact that if you have more than one good watch it's highly likely at least one of them's sitting at home & more at risk of being stolen than the one you're wearing.

This is something I've struggled with too.
I'm looking to just insure my Rolex each with their own insurance policy. I don't want to put it under home insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking online I've got a quote through T.H. March for £200 on my Daytona. Now that is quite high but I'd rather have it insured as I've already had 2 uninsured Rolex stolen from me. |

Try Jewelers Mutual. They are the biggest jewellery insurer in the US and they do insure in Canada, but not sure about UK. I can tell you that for a Sub-C, its roughly $120 / year.

Try Hiscox - I used to work within the household insurance industry, and I specificly went with Hiscox as their contents insurance would cover both my watches (B&R, Anonimo and Hanhart) and my vintage 1940s uniforms/flying jacket collection - you have to go through everything with them, so long as you do then they should be okay...Whne I bought my Sub, I just called them up, told them what I had just got and they included it within my insurance straight away - my monthly cost went up by £2, so my insurance is is £35 per month, £420 for the year for all my household contents, including watches away from home etc. It sounds a high premium, but I am covered for eveything...
