If you wear your watch in salt/pool water just rinse well in fresh water after.Just wash your watch in plain old soap and water dry with any clean lint free cloth. But to be 100% safe make sure crown is screwed in as normal but just finger tight only.

any soap is fine! i personally just use whatever body wash in my shower as its smoother and not sticky like handwash.

i just lather it up and rinse it under cold water.

then i use a microfibre cloth (like you use on cars) to wipe it down and polish it.

eaaaaaaasy!

i wouldnt use toothpaste and a brush like some people as i fear it might cause tiny scratches :)

IMO, we're talking about Rolex, here, clean it with anything (almost). I can't think of a soap that would harm it, unless it has an abrasive in it. I'd be a little careful with brushes, but I've never had a problem with a soft toothbrush.

I happen to have a jar of liquid jewelry cleaner in the house, and I just drop the watches in for a minute and brush them off lightly. The only reason I bother to use the cleaner is that it leaves no residue.

Shampoo tends to leave less residue than soap, in my experience.

No need for conditioner, tho...
