Question about SS Daytonas "shiny" bezels
Just wondering if the SS Daytona bezel has always been polished (not counting the black bezels, obviously) I know that vintage ones had brushed bracelet - did they also have brushed bezel? I own a Zenith Daytona and have already brushed the bracelet which I prefer to PCL's, but personally find the shiny bezel to be too loud for my taste. Seems to me it might look better with a brushed bezel to go with brushed bracelet. Anyone ever brushed the bezel of a ss Daytona. Any suggestions for how to get that look if I am so inclined?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions. Don |

One of my pet peeves about the Daytona and the reason I sold mine. Scratches show up too easily.

I don't mind PCL bracelets. That said, I do tend to bang my bezels from time to time. I like the ceramic as they take a hit well. I know some say they are fragile...I'll say, with the right hit, anything can break. I'd want to hang myself if I had a daytona and dented the bezel. That and the yachtmaster scare me.

also have a SS white Daytona and I hate the bling look. Considering brushing the bracelet and the lugs. I don't think it is possible to brush the bezel as the numbers would disappear.

I saw a Paul Newman Daytona in the flesh at a GTG last weekend. Although very scratched, the bezel appeared to be polished.

Was at my AD today, and they had just gotten in a SS Daytona. What a beautiful watch. Thank goodness I had an appointment... might have bought it if I'd stayed any longer!

As I have posted in another thread. I brushed everything - including bezel. I spin sanded it on a lathe and the numbers were fine and unscathed. ![]() ![]() Oh - I made a vintage version of a new Daytona too. The black bezel is an acrylic insert in a stainless milled channel. ![]() ![]()
